After Kukuru and Fuuka had a nice break hanging out with their coworkers, it’s back to work. This time, it seems that one of Akari’s ideas finally received an approval.
During break time, it seems that Kukuru spends time with Fuuka. She checked on the penguin chick and it is growing healthy. Of course, her break is almost off as she goes back to the marketing office. This is where Kukuru’s a-hole boss give the news that she approves Akari’s proposal for a cosplay event. As expected, he wants Kukuru to be in charge since Akari is working part time.
Sure, Kukuru wants Akari to lead the project, but Akari doesn’t seem to mind. I wonder why since Akari worked so hard to make her proposal a reality. As expected, she got the idea of cosplaying fish from looking at the merch. The idea is to have the staff dress as fish and the guest try to guess their names. If they are correct, they will receive a sticker. If one collects them all, they can exchange it for a gift.
Clearly, Akari never cosplayed before despite coming up with the idea. Apparently, she decided to work at an aquarium because she needed a job, not because she obsessed with it or anything. This becomes important when Kukuru talked to Fuuka about it. It’s obvious that Kukuru wants to bring her own love aquatic animals to Akari. Sure, Fuuka can relate to Akari, but she grew to enjoy aquarium work after working at Gama Gama for a while. Still, it’s true that people pick a job out of necessity. Of course, Kukuru vents to Fuuka that she wants to do attendant work before they head home.
With that, there is the meeting. I find that the members of the three departments want to do their own thing. The penguin team to dress up as mermaids, which Chiyu resisted at first since she plans to bring her son to the event. As the discussion is going on, it seems that Akari is spacing out a bit, but to her, anything sea related is okay.
The fish team decides on something else. Kaoru wants to do Urashima Taro cosplay. Kai, Eiji and Kuuya dressed as sea creatures. This leaves Umi-yan with the remaining and embarrassing part, Otohime. I mean he looks ridiculous, but he needs to take one for the team.
Of course, we learn more about Akari. Karin takes Akari out for dinner. Akari is worried that she upset Kukuru for turning down the offer to lead the project and thought Karin want to talk about it. However, she just wants to talk with Akari. Yep, Akari is still in college, but doesn’t seem to know what she wants to do with life. She never participated in group projects. Karin eventually tells the reason why she switched jobs. It’s because she wanted to become an attendant at first as a dream job since her childhood.
I can understand what Akari is going through. Nobody knows what they want to do until adulthood or while in college. It took me a while to figure out what I really wanted to do. While I enjoy working with computers, I didn’t go into that field initially because I believed those jobs are being outsourced.
While I was an accounting major for two years, I just figured that it was too difficult to memorize all those rules and changed majors. I eventually ended up working in a job that deals with computers and technology anyways.
Even if you get the dream job, Akari finds out that it’s not all fun and games. From Kaoru, she has the fear that fish might get sick and die. This is not too surprising since you can still face difficulties sometimes. This gives Akari something to think about when she receives a call from Udon that one of the items got onto the menu. She asks about why a dream job is not always fun. Of course, Undon agreed, but she is unable to meet the next day to talk about it.
It seems that Kukuru messed up the order email as she wanted to check something first. After Akari received the text when she left work, she decides to help Kukuru and Karin out instead to make the stickers manually. Yep, that is printing them on a sticker sheet and cutting them out. Akari is finally helping them out.
In the end, this pays off as Akari ends up dressing up as a pirate. This is in despite of not wanting to do it at first. I guess she doesn’t regret not helping them out now. Will Akari grow enthusiasm for working with sea creatures or find a dream job she likes? We must wait and see.
Aside from that, it seems that it’s already a year since the aquarium’s opening. Wait, a year went by that fast you say? Kukuru’s a-hole boss wants Kukuru to plan a special area to commemorate this moment. It’s a large task, but Kukuru can prove her worth and get back at her boss in the best way possible. We’ll have to wait and see what she proposes.
Akari’s struggle was very relatable. Whether she becomes addicted to aquariums too or not remains to be seen.
Kaoru’s cute side was nice to see.
Looking forward to the next big arc. Hopefully with more KukuFuu development.
