Kukuru comes into work upset for some reason. We find out why.
As expected, the newspaper runs an article saying that the aquarium will close after 48 years. Yep, that is what the rumor mills are telling, which causes Kukuru to become really upset. She doesn’t want to believe this horrible news or give up yet.
With that, she pushes on with trying to attract more visitors. First of which is possibly opening a sweets stall. This is after Umi-yan starts eating some ice pops. I think she always do it at every possible moment. Thankfully, it gives Kukuru an idea to possibly do it.
Of course, she enlists Undon to help her out. Given that her mother doesn’t like sweet stuff, Undon has her work cut out for her. After all, she is working with a limited budget of 50,000 yen, which is about 500 dollars. They eventually wanted to open an ice cream stand. Of course, Karin shatters that dream. Yep, they need a special permit, which is very difficult to get. They eventually settled on doing shaved ice.
During that time, Fuuka somehow discovers a site like Instagram. It makes me wonder why Kukuru didn’t create a social network account for the aquarium in the first place. With that, she takes pictures around the aquarium. Of course, the old guy is there looking at the aquarium. He will become important very soon.
After the preparations, it’s time to open the stand. While Kukuru observes the aquarium, and she sees the same old guy. He tells Kukuru the news about the aquarium closing from the newspaper, which saddens him. He shares that the aquarium was special since he can see his deceased older brother. After seeing that vision, he manages to get back on his feet from this experience and managed to build a new and successful business.
Of course, Kukuru experiences what he was talking about. She saw her parents and of course her future self. I guess she isn’t the only one to experience this. After all, Fuuka and Takeshita experienced something similar. Either way, Kukuru reassures the old guy that she will make sure it stays open.
As for the shaved ice stand, it works out in the end. Yep, it’s thanks to Undon helping and doing her magic. Of course, the designs aren’t bad either. Aside from that, it’s nice to see some pictures of the shaved ice she made on social media. Even so, it seems that Undon opening her own shop is still elusive. Her mother doesn’t seem to have much confidence in her cooking.
Good Udon episode. Nice to see she found a future goal after all.
Poor Kukuru had a good cry. Could she also have seen her future? Should be interesting.
Not too surprising after all. Still, I think it’s hard for her mother to convince her otherwise due to her dislike towards sweet food.
But yes, what Kukuru saw is interesting, but I wonder if she can pull it off. We’ll see soon enough.
Shaved Ice as a solution will not save an operation as large a Gama Gama. This is wasted motion. Fuuka on the other hand has some business sense, trying to gain more publicity. Really enjoy the magical elements of Gama Gama, and how it is a lens which enlarges everyone’s hopes and dreams. And the introduction of a mystery man may lead into an interesting story. There is of course the mystery picture in the shrine of a young woman who looks like Kukuru. So far in Aquatope, the story telling has been rock solid mysterious!
Agreed with that, Shaved ice can only do so much compared to social media. Still, I wonder about that vision Kukuru had along with the other elements. I guess we’ll find out eventually.
