This is the make-or-break moment for Fruit Tart as they are about to have live performance in their hometown. The question is, will it be a success?
We finally learn the reason behind why Ino wants to have the performance at the hometown. It’s obvious that she wants to give something in return to the neighbors that supported them. I guess that makes sense since they want Fruit Tart to succeed. Then again, it’s probably Ino’s charm after all.
With that, Fruit Tart decided to perform new songs for their performance. That idea came when Ino asks Roko if they should do a new song. Sadly, Roko doesn’t think it will work due to money issues. It seems Hoho also have the same idea and wants to use Roko as a sacrifice.
As expected, she offered herself to Cream Amitsu as she wears a maid outfit with cat ears and tail while holding broccoli. Apparently, they are playing games to make Roko do things. The funny thing is that Roko manages to beat all of them. That is very surprising since Cream Amitsu is a more popular group. I guess Roko outsmarted them and managed to secure costumes and a song. It’s funny how a little sister can’t defeat an older sister despite how experienced and popular they are.
As for performance day, it seems that everyone set up shop stalls for the event. Hoho obviously wants to make this into a money-making opportunity. Yep, Fruit Tart make their house special curry. The funny thing is that Tone bought most of it. I find it funny how her stomach became big after buying all of it. I knew this will eventually happen since she is a big fan of Fruit Tart.
Aside from that, there is the performances. Of course, Roko doesn’t like the idea of having to perform the Broko’s song. I find it funny how Hoho went so far to get the rights to the song. Apparently, Roko’s former agency didn’t care and just gave it to her to Roko’s despair.
Still, Hoho eventually coax Roko and she went along with it. I find this quite hilarious, but the fans seem to like it. It’s funny how Roko performed the song with dead fisheyes and threw the broccoli crown when the song is over. Thankfully, the food didn’t go to waste at least.
In the second half, Fruit Tart changed into the maid outfits with cat ears and tail. Yep, they are cute. Still, I find it funny how Hoho want to use mouse ears and make the House of Mouse reference again. I find it hilarious how they censored it. It’s obvious that Fruit Tart doesn’t want Disney to sue them for copyright infringement. Then again, I highly doubt it since they are in financial trouble thanks to the pandemic.
Aside from that, I wondered about Roko’s big buns. Yes, Chiko copied her double buns during their childhood and Roko is not happy. But she obviously did it to make herself look taller than she really is. In other words, her profile is a lie. In reality, she is shorter than 140 cm. The more you know.
When Fruit Tart went on stage, someone apparently fried the speakers. Yep, Hoho accidentally left her drink and somehow, it spilled onto the speaker. It’s good that Fruit Tart took it out of Hoho’s hide. Thankfully, Oto and Riri is there to help them out and borrow the speakers. In return, Fruit Tart had to wear the cat ears and tail.
Either way, the performance with Fruit Tart and Cream Amitsu performing the song, “The Demise of Youth and Little Girl’s Wings.” Ino of course thanks everyone before performing. They even went so far to state that even if they don’t make it, they will keep on trying.
Thankfully, they don’t have to break up as they barely made it. I guess their collaboration with Cream Amitsu along with Broko comeback is the push that they need all along. Still, I wonder if they will make it further from here. I guess we must wait and see.
Final Thoughts
As expected, Ochikobore Fruit Tart like with most Manga Time Kirara adaptations are very enjoyable. Sure, this show has more fanservice compared to Hanayamata with more yuri. In a way, one can compare this show Hanayamata meets Hinako Note, but with idols. It’s not too surprising to see the yuri turned up to 10 considering that Ino is into girls. Also, the comedy was halarious, and the production looks great.
Not only that, she basically created a small harem with Hayu and Hemo who are fighting for Ino’s attention. Also, there is other airings such as Nina and Roko, and Riri and Hoho. Still, I must admit that the girls’ quirks and personalities is what makes them very enjoyable.
Also, their rival production company, Cat Productions are surprisingly friendly and not as ruthless, and cutthroat compared to other idol shows. It’s not too surprising since Riri basically has a crush on Hoho and Chiko obsesses over her older sister.
Still, I would like to see a continuation. After all, I want to see what happens to Fruit Tart in the end. I think it’s a longshot given that Hanayamata never received an anime sequel, but one can hope.
“Manga lure” ending aside this was a fantastic yuri comedy! All but two of the girls made me happy every time they were on screen. Can’t pick a favorite because they were all excellent.
Add another of many Girls’ Club shows that deserve a 2nd season but probably won’t get one.
Definitely agree. After reading the first volume, the yuri will be good along with the comedy. But yes, it was fun to watch. Still, I have a feeling that this will be like Hanyamata where it never received a second season, meaning there is only the manga I guess.
