Everyone is wondering, what happened to Adachi before that faithful moment from last time? We finally have the answer.
It’s obvious that Adachi is really introverted. This makes it difficult for Adachi to approach her romantic feelings for Shimamura. She thought that since she is in the same class with Shimamura that things will be the same. It’s obvious that Adachi doesn’t seem to like how Shimamura is hanging out with new friends she barely knows. Seeing Shimamura smile in front of her new friends she barely knows frustrates Adachi.
Not only that, given how shy Adachi is, this is not too surprising. She ended up going back to her usual spot in the gym thinking that Shimamura will come. Sadly, it’s just a girl who wanted a quiet spot to read her book. Adachi ended up leaving school all sad. She ended up at the mall remembering the precious times with her. She eventually goes into the pet shop. That is when she bumps into Tarumi, her rival.
As expected, I would have thought that Adachi’s interaction with Tarumi will become awkward. After all, she and Tarumi have a crush on the same girl. Thankfully, they don’t know that they both have a crush on Shimamura. Adachi ended up picking up the charm that Tarumi dropped and give it back to her. This gives Adachi the desire to buy matching charms with Shimamura. Still, it’s kind of cute that Adachi sees a puppy version of herself. Sadly, this causes her to tear up since it’s a mirror of herself.
It’s obvious that Adachi still yearns for Shimamura, but she doesn’t know what to do. She is afraid that if she makes the wrong move, she loses Shimamura forever. Yes, she ends up meeting a fortuneteller. Besides relying on the horoscope lady, Shaman Taoka for relationship advice, she is now getting advice from a fortuneteller.
While the fortuneteller obviously peer pressured Adachi, she gave what Adachi needed. After all, she knows what person Adachi likes and guesses her relationship issues correctly. The fortuneteller pinpoints the exact issue Adachi is facing. Yes, she lacks the assertiveness to overcome her shyness and peruse her happiness. After Adachi shouts that she won’t run away anymore, the fortuneteller’s job is done. Yep, the security officer chased after her, which is hilarious. Still, it’s nice to see how the fortuneteller and the book girl’s book show illustrates Adachi’s struggles.
Eventually, we come to the to the present. After meeting Shimamura after a long time, she sits on the same seat as Shimamura and offered her a bun. It’s obvious that she is not running away and confronting her feelings head on. As expected, they hold hands when they walked out of the school. They also made a promise to call each other during the evening. Adachi eventually tells Shimamura what we are expecting in a quiet spot at the school while she hugs her. Shimamura finally realizes that Adachi was jealous.
While Shimamura’s mother make dinner, Shimamura talked with Adachi on the phone. It’s obvious that the only person Adachi is interested is in Shimamura. After talking with her after a while, Shimamura thinks that Adachi being possessive is not a bad feeling since it shows that someone cares about her. This causes Adachi to cry as she finally realizes the thing that makes her happy, which is Shimamura of course. Also, Shimamura realizes that she should choose the best self instead of pretending to become friends with people she isn’t interested in.
Still, I can see the struggles Adachi face. After all, she doesn’t know how Shimamura will react since she is afraid of losing Shimamura if she makes the wrong move. Either way, she can have some sigh of relief that her assertiveness did not damage their relationship but brought them even closer.
As I’ve said many times already Adachi is a freakin’ legend. This episode solidified her status as one of the yuri greats!
Hopefully Shimamura will find the answer she’s been searching for all this time in the anime finale.
Adachi has a thing for fortunetellers it would seem.
Wonder what will happen between Adachi and Tarumi next time they meet?
Like Nagafuji I don’t want the show to end but alas.
Definitely agree. She is trying her hardest, especially relying on fortunetellers for relationship advice. Still, I wonder what will happen when Adachi and Tarumi see each other with Shimamura around.
