Now that summer is coming to an end, it’s time to share some shows I plan to watch. Also, there is some major life updates as mentioned briefly on Twitter. I will be going more in detail and how it will affect this blog going forward. As always, the list is subject to change.
Anime Picks
Covering
Kandagawa Jet Girls
Studio: EGG Firm
Air Date: October 8, 2019
It’s yet another sports anime that have an all female cast. This time, it involves girls competing in pairs in some jet ski racing with the producer who most notably worked on Senran Kagura. The anime is basically an original tie in to the video game that will come out on the PlayStation 4 and the switch. Since there are no signs of a male trainer, it can potentially become an enjoyable show.
Watashi, Nouryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta you ne!
Air Date: October 7, 2019
As expected, this is another fantasy show when a girl named Kurihara Misato who is a genius. After passing away. When she sees god, she begs to it to make her abilities average. Still, I wonder why this is the case, which should be interesting to find out. Also, the main cast is mostly female, which gives some shipping potential.
Azur Lane
Studio: Bibury
Air Date: October 3, 2019
Azur Lane is another mobile game created in China, but somehow became very popular in Japan. It recently had a video game adaptation released in Japan on the Playstation 4 that has good reception . It will receive a western localized release. Like Kantai Collection, the girls are based off World War II warships. It should be interesting to see how the story will play out in the anime. I can imagine that they will most likely make the off-screen self-insert character as male.
Watching but not covering
Null Peta
Studio: Shin-Ei Animation
Air Date: October 4, 2019
This show focuses on an elementary school girl who is an inventor named Null. Somehow, she revives her older sister, Peta as a robot. I can imagine how things will ensure from here. Given that this is an anime short, I won’t be covering It until the end.
Rifle is Beautiful
Studio: Studio 3Hz
Air Date: October 10, 2019
It’s another show focusing on girls forming a competitive shooting club. While shootings is not really an issue in Japan because of the strict gun control, I can imagine this show becoming controversial elsewhere due to recent mass shootings and it becoming controversial as the media likes to blame video games and shows instead of enacting actual reforms. As always, there is some shipping potential.
Life Updates
As you might have known, the past three years were pretty difficult. After leaving my first job since it wasn’t a good fit, I have been finding another, until now. Thankfully, my parents and sister helped me out in the meantime.
During the meantime, I focused on my business, which involves working on and selling open source software and keeping skills up to date in addition to writing posts on this blog. Recently, I revealed that I finally earned my Comptia Cybersecurity Analyst certification to see if that will improve my changes of getting another Information Technology job elsewhere in the federal government. There is a reason I still want to work in the public sector opposed to private. Sure, the pay is lower than what I would earn if I get any Information Technology job at a tech company. I value life-work balance, job stability, and the fact I am contributing work to help better the country.
At last, my luck has finally turned for the better in 2019. While I have done more than 8 interviews this year, I finally managed to get an offer. The hiring manager that interviewed me called me back recently to see if I am still interested for the job in the that I interviewed back in July. Of course, I said yes. Last week, I finally got the official selection status a few days ago and will receive the offer letter soon.
With that, this means that I will have to move from Pennsylvania to the Washington DC area, most likely Maryland. This means selling my old house and buying a new one. This time, I planning to stay there in the long term since there is a lot of opportunities to move up. Now that I learned my mistakes from my old job and not to repeat them again, I think this time, things will be better.
With that, this change means that there will be some changes to the blog in the near future. While I have to commute by train, I will be able to use that time to watch anime on my smart phone. However, I will only cover at most three titles. Everything else will receive a review when the show ends.
Also, I do not plan to remove the advertisements. This is mostly because I want to earn extra money to make improvements to this blog. Regardless, I will still invest some money into improving this blog. Some of the things I plan to do is have mascot character artwork commissioned for header image, avatar and the about page. I also want to renew the WPTouch Pro plugin so we can finally update to WordPress 5.x.
As for possibly attending an anime convention next year, it’s a possibility, but unlikely at least for now. In the past, this is not possible, even with my first job since they are very expensive. Besides ticket fees, there is hotel, dining and airfare costs. Since I will be living in the Washington DC area, attending Otakon in 2021 is a possibility as I won’t have to pay for airfare or get a hotel room. First, I want to build a sizable amount of savings (at least three months) before I do that.
Lastly, with Gacha games, I unfortunately have to cut out Starlight Revue. It’s mostly because I am not invested in the story as I haven’t watched the anime yet. Also, most of my focus is on Magia Record (both English and Japanese versions) and I play Kirara Fantasia casually. Not only that, I want to start focusing on my backlog of games. In the near future, I want to focus on completing Pocket Monsters Sword and Shield and Atelier Ryza. I notice that Gacha games are taking my time away from playing games on the Nintendo Switch. It’s not good when my iPad Pro playing Gacha games for hours while my Nintendo Switch and other consoles collect dust.
Now that the light at the end of the tunnel, at least the burden of finding a job is finally lifted. Now I can focus on my hobbies, which includes finishing that anime, manga, and video game backlog and possibly work on taking the JPLT. Note that until I am fully settled, content might come late since I need to look for another townhouse/condo/house. Either way, I am excited about the future.
In short, it’s possibly best to find the job you like instead of jumping into any job just for the sake of getting one and find out that you don’t like it. That is, if you have the luxury to wait.
Wise words lad. I wish you all the best in your new endeavors.
As expected we have a similar watchlist.
As usual our watchlists are relatively similar.
Best of luck with your new job good sir.
While it’s late, thanks!
