While Mao teaches class, it seems that she came down with an illness before she collapses. It’s quite obvious what illness it is.
I have to admit that it’s surprising to see Mao collapse in front of her class while teaching. While Rona was about to make the classroom into an ultimate hospital, Fai decides to bring her to the nurse’s office. That is probably the best choice without taking drastic actions. Still, it’s easy to feel bad for Mao since she has hardly any food, besides the honey. While she had some, it’s obvious that Fai will eat the remaining honey.
While Mao is in bed coming down with the Demon Lord Fever, ironic as it seems, we find out more about her. She had a golem teacher as a servant that helped her regain all the knowledge Mao needs to have to become a Demon Lord. Mao even receives training in preparation.
Despite the hero defeating her 998 times, Mao feels unfulfilled. This is not too surprising not because she can’t take over the island, but she feels like a gargoyle in a bird-cage. In other words, she feels lonely. Since the hero will eventually defeat her force, she won’t have anyone to interact with. If you are wondering already, Mao’s child-like appearance is her normal form.
Of course, we also learn what happened after Mao went back to the past. Believe it or not, she is completely powerless and can’t transform to her Demon Lord form. She tries to find a job and a place to live so she can stop the next hero. I like how when she tries to get a quest, the receptionist simply gave her a piece of candy. The same thing happens when she asks other people. It’s predictable with Mao’s child-like appearance.
Eventually she collapses and she finds herself being carried by a woman who is a warrior. If you don’t know already, her name is Lush and she asks her how to defeat a dragon. Given Mao’s knowledge, Lush eventually offers her a job at the adventurer’s school as a teacher. There is no wonder why Mao decides to give up life as a Demon Lord. She can simply be around students and never be alone again.
Aside from that, there is not much to say about Yulia and her friends coming to visit Mao. Sure, Fai ate all the honey, but Mei also bought new food for Mao and do the cooking. The rest of the girls helped out, besides Seria, who sat in the corner. She eventually feeds Mao the stew Mei made.
In the end, Mao recovers mostly from the fever after eating it along with some rest. I find it cute how Lush slept right next to her. Either way, it’s obvious that Mao is happier now since she doesn’t have the burden of being the Demon Lord compared to when she was one. I wonder how long this will last until Yulia and her party finds out that Mao is the Demon Lord.
Either way, the next episode will focus more on Rona. I wonder what role she will have now since she is now part of Yulia’s party. We have to wait until next week to find out.
Hoping Mao X Lush goes somewhere. Otherwise it was another good episode, especially for Mao fans.
Maybe it will go somewhere, providing that Yulia don’t find out her secret. But aside from that, it’s nice to learn more about Mao.
