Now that the end of the year is approaching and of course, the end of fall, it’s time to take a look at what I plan to watch this Winter. As always, this list is subject to change.
Endro
Air Date: January 12, 2019
Studio: Studio Gokumi
As expected, this is a fantasy adventure as it follows the life of girls who attend a school for adventurers to prepare them so they can defeat the Demon King when he appears again. As expected, the character designs are cute and given the story is a slice of life fantasy. Overall, should be a fun watch.
Bang Dream! Second Season
Air Date: January 3, 2019
Studio: SANZIGEN Animation Studio
Sure, I will eat crow since I thought Bang Dream will be a failure. Given the franchise’s popularity mostly due to it having similarity to idol anime, it will eventually receive a sequel. Not just one, but two sequels. I wonder how this will turn out since that lady close down her live house venue to retire. Either way, besides Poppin’ Party, other bands will finally receive some screen time. It should be interesting to see how the other bands develop.
Kemono Friends 2
Air Date: January 7, 2019
Studio: Tomason
After Kemono Friends became a sleeper hit in 2017 despite having no budget, a sequel is finally happening. Sure, there has been some drama over the original director getting fired. I expect the sequel will be mostly faithful as the prequel, perhaps with better animation since the production will receive a budget.
Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!
Air Date: January 8, 2019
Studio: Doga Kobo
Judging from the title, it’s yet going to be another one of those yuri lolicon comedy anime. While it may not be as creepy as Uzamaid, if you watch that show and Happy Sugar Life, it’s understandable why some feel fatigued with this genre.
That said, it focuses on a shy college student named Hoshino Miyako who becomes obsessed with a girl named Hana. She starts making her snacks so she can dress her up in cosplay outfits she makes. Does this sound somewhat familiar to a certain maid? Even so, I am more interested in the other potential yuri pairings than the obvious.
With that, this is basically what I plan to watch. I will share my site updates and plans at the end of the year review. Feel free to share what you plan to watch in the comments.
I strongly recommend that you try “Kaguya-sama wa kokurasetai”. It should be up your alley theming-wise, and it’s arguably one of the best mangas ever.
We’ll see in the future, but normally, I don’t cover normal love/harem shows nowadays, but I might check it out at the end of the season.
As expected we share a similar list of shows to watch.
Wataten I’ll be watching quietly as I am a bit fatigued of covering lolicon yuri shows.
The other shows I’m very interested in. Saw a trailer for Kemono Friends 2 today and it looks like Kaban won’t be the main protagonist this time. Hopefully the gayness and atmosphere from the first season remain faithful as you said.
I understand given having three age gap lolicon yuri shows air in each season are getting somewhat tiring.
I have some reservations about Kemono Friends 2 since there has been reports that the production is hindered a bit thanks to the fandumb and the director drama. We have to wait and see how much of it got affected.
Oh boy. Of course fanboys are whining, bitching and moaning.
Yes, they can. Case in point:
