Now that Koito Yuu finally starts her first year of high school, she has unresolved feelings towards a junior high school male student who confessed to her. She doesn’t know what to do. However, a special someone awaits to change all that.
After reading Shoujo manga and listening to love songs, Yuu imagines the ideal feeling. Yes, it’s about girls finding the perfect someone to date. However, Yuu just doesn’t feel it when a boy confessed to her after graduation. She simply didn’t know how to react. Now that she is in high school, she eventually decides to try out student council after her teacher suggested it.
On the way to the house where the student council meets, Yuu witnesses a boy confessing to Narumi Touko, who is the student council president. She ultimately rejects him since she doesn’t feel like falling in love with anyone. She eventually finds out that Yuu witnessed the boy’s confession. Eventually, Touko helps Yuu with her feelings after Yuu reveals that she didn’t feel it when the boy confessed to her after graduation.
With Touko’s support, Yuu gained the courage to reject the boy who confessed to her. Afterwards, Touko confesses to Yuu after realizing she has feelings for Yuu. However, Yuu doesn’t understand this new feeling. With elections coming up, Touko wants Yuu to help her out with her election campaign.
It’s quite understandable why Yuu is not ready for a relationship. Relationships is something that one shouldn’t jump into immediately, even if it’s something elusive. It’s understandable why Yuu would have second thoughts as seen with the text messages.
Maybe it’s not the person she really likes or want to date. After all, one shouldn’t get into a relationship for the sake of having a romantic partner. Even so, she is still conflicted with the idealism from romantic media. After all, romance in reality is not always as idealistic as seen in manga and heard from music. Given that her friends being boy crazy, it can explain why she became distant when it comes to this. However, a certain someone is about to change this.
It was interesting to see Yuu witness Touko reject someone who halfheartedly confessed to her. There is no wonder why neither of the confessions they received swept them off their feet. If you compare the boy’s confession to Touko to Yuu’s, it sounds very familiar. It’s the same generic, “X, would you go out with me? I love you!” There is no wonder why Yuu nor Touko can feel it for them. With that, Yuu now knows that Touko experienced a similar confession. It’s up to Yuu to gain the courage to share how she feels towards the boy that confessed to her.
Thankfully, Touko understands the pressure Yuu is going through. When the boy who confessed to Yuu calls, Touko tells Yuu to just share how she actually feels. Yuu eventually rejects the boy’s confession over the phone. Afterwards, Touko decides to confess to Yuu as she brings her closer. Maybe Touko believes that she can show Yuu the light that she desires the most. While Yuu won’t understand initially, she will understand soon enough. After all, Touko plans to have her become her running mate. This is obvious where this is going, right?
Either way, while the first episode of Yagate Kimi ni Naru isn’t as dramatic compared Citrus, it’s a nice and pleasant start. While Yuu won’t understand the feeling of love quite yet, but she will soon enough. After all, she is running as Touko’s running mate.
A very well done premiere with two interesting leads. Yuu having trouble rejecting the guy made sense as she’s never done that kind of thing before. Luckily Touko was there to help…and then surprise Yuu with a confession of her own. Very intrigued to see what happens next.
Yes, the premiere was nice. Sure, it was tough for Yuu to reject him, but it’s probably the right choice. Still, it’s quite obvious what will happen next with Touko confessing to Yuu out of the blue.
True that dood.
