Now that Satou murdered her best friend, Shouko for knowing too much, Shio is now worried about Satou’s well-being.
From last time, Satou’s sanity meter hits a critical low after she found out that Shouko saw Shio. While Satou doesn’t normally resort to murder, but this one took her over the edge. Now, Satou is on the blink of losing her sanity. It’s understandable why Shio wants to save her before it’s too late by cleaning the apartment and cooking the special curry. After all, something like this happened to her mother before.
From the flashback, we learned about Shio’s mother. It’s obvious that she has an abusive husband and pushed into a marriage that she didn’t want. Even after leaving Asahi behind, it’s noticeable that her spirits are being broken as they lived in a run-down apartment with no money for food and such. As a result, her glass jar, which signifies that her sanity started breaking. It’s obvious that Shio wants to fix it before it reaches the point of no return.
Sadly, when Shio tries to help find a replacement jar, she only caused more trouble. While someone rescued Shio from a runaway truck, this broke her mom’s spirit completely. She become abusive like her husband and eventually slaps Shio. Shortly afterwards, she becomes horrified and eventually abandons Shio.
Now that her mother abandoned Shio, wouldn’t this make Satou’s deeds of blackmailing and murdering people kind of meaningless? After all, Shio’s mother abandoned her and Satou took her in. In other words, she cares about Shio more than her mother. At this point, one can say that Satou essentially adopted her. Eventually. Asahi will find out that his mother abandoned Shio. He will eventually have to accept that his dream of living a happy life with Shio and his mother will never happen.
That said, Satou wakes up and obviously, she said something that upsets Shio. She tells Shio not to worry and just do nothing but smile, be adorable and love her. Given that this reminds Shio of her mother, it’s obvious that she didn’t react well to this. Shio outright says that she hates Satou. She runs away to her room and lock herself in.
Either way, Satou is at a critical state filled with despair. It’s obvious that Shio means a lot to her. Without Shio, Satou will be completely lonely. Thankfully, Shio changes her mind. In a flashback after Shio’s mother abandons her, Satou finds her. Shio finds out that Satou has a glass jar inside of her that is intact, but empty. This gave Shio an opportunity to make Satou her replacement mother of some sort. In the end, they eventually made up. Shio promises Satou that she will be by her side. From this, Satou’s sanity went back to normal and her love for Shio grows tremendously.
Now that Shio and Satou made up with each other, I wonder where things will go from there. It’s obvious that they will probably try to escape to a faraway place so they can live in peace. Before they can even get there, they need to confront the dark and scary world first. That and there is the threat of Asahi derailing everything as he is seen taking a bat. I wonder what he is doing to do with it. We have to wait and see next week.
I see my post somehow inspired you. Very cool.
Shio’s mom went through a pocket dimension of hell and sadly wasn’t strong enough to handle life in constant hiding and fear and she let out her frustrations on poor Shio who was forced to mentally develop quickly.
Satou breaking down was a painful sight. Killing Shoko for her betrayal took a lot out of her and Shio threatening to dump her was too much for her to bear. Luckily her fiancee forgave her.
Let’s hope the two are ready for whatever sense of twisted morality Asahi has in store for them.
It’s understandable why her mother feels frustrated. Still, it shows how messed up Shio’s family is.
But yes, seeing Satou’s breakdown is sad, especially with Shio threatening to break up with her. It’s probably because Satou didn’t realize that Shio’s mother tell her to do nothing. But hopefully with that out of the way, hopefully they stay safe against Asahi possibly ruining their Happy Sugar Life.
