It has been two years since Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (ダンジョンに出会いを求めるのは間違っているだろうか, lit. Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls) aired in 2015. Yes, it’s popular enough to get another show. No, this is not a second season, but a spinoff. Instead of focusing on Hestia, Bell and Lilly, the focus is on Aizu Wallenstein and the Loki familia with the story taken from Lefiya Viridis point of view. As you would expect, she admires Aiz.
Episode 1
The first episode serves as an introduction to the Loki Familia. They are at the 50th floor in the dungeon. If you watched the main series, you should be familiar with most of the members off the Loki Familia. Yes, that jerkass Bete is there as well. Thankfully, he doesn’t get much screen time since Lefiya is the main character. This means that she will spend most of the time with Tione, Tiona and Aiz.
It seems that a caterpillar and moth-like creatures came to the 50th level and attack our heores. WhileLefiya performs an incantation to defeat the monsters, she struggled. Sadly, the monsters eventually surrounded her, leaving her defenseless. In short, Aiz has to save her. I guess this was too much for her. Thankfully the other members were there.
The last half of the episode is the party going back up to the surface. As expected, they ran into some minotaur and some got loose. Yes, those are the ones that Bell in the first episode of the main series. Aiz defeats it, the monster’s blood covers Bell and runs away. Yes, that jerkass Bate makes fun of him in the bar in the next episode. Either way, this causes Aiz to become worried, but it’s not the only thing.
Episode 2
The girls finally return and of course, Loki welcomes her back by trying to hug someone. Of course, everyone avoided her, except Lefiya. Poor Lefiya as she gets her breasts fondled by Loki. The funny thing is that Lefiya doesn’t learn the first time when she was in the bath and Loki comes in. Still, it seems that Tiona is still jealous of everyone else having a bigger chest than hers while they are in the bath.
Lefiya notices that Aiz feels down and wants to help her somehow. Aside from Aiz’s interaction with Bell in the last episode, she is not making much improvements after reaching level 5. Still, I have to admit that it’s cute to see Lefiya having romantic fantasies with Aiz.
In short, Lefiya wants to cheer her up. She offers her a crystal drop. The next day, while Lione sells an item, Lefiya buys a good luck charm and gives it to Aiz. Sadly, she still feels down during the party after Bete puts down Bell and he runs out of the bar upset. This of course didn’t make things better for Aiz and causes Lefiya to become worried.
To cheer her up, Tiona, Lione and Lefiya takes Aiz clothes shopping. Yep, they went into a swimsuit shop, a dress shop and another clothing shop. I have to admit that it’s funny to see Lefiya imagination Aiz in various outfits. Eventually, they settled on a cute outfit for Aiz and Lefiya pays for it for her. With that, Aiz eventually notices this after Liona tells her. Lefiya eventually tells her that she done this to help her and not as an apology. Either way, it was a nice episode.
Episode 3
While Aiz and Lefiya explores a dungeon, she finds people transporting monsters. As expected, Lefiya asks her to go with her to Monsterphilia. Yes, this is basically a date. She agrees, but Loki shots that dream down as they failed to sneak back in. While Lefiya explain to Riveria wha, Loki gives them a punishment. Lefiya must be really disappointed since Loki asks Aiz on going on a date with her to Monsterphilia.
I have to admit, I felt sorry for Lefiya as she cried in bed. After all, she asked Aiz out first. It’s sad that she won’t be able to get an indirect kiss with her. In short, Loki got it in real life although Aiz was hesitant. If Lefiya saw that, she would become upset. Thankfully, she got another chance.
While Lefiya, Liona and Lione watch the Monsterphilia, they noticed something wrong. Yes, monsters went on the loose. Aiz eventually came to the rescue. Liona, Lione and Lefiya gets ambushed by a plant creature while Lefiya helps out. However, Leefiya got knocked out and Lione and Lefiya got entangled by the wines. Aiz eventually comes to help Lione and Lione, but she broke her sword. The plant grab her by its mouth and threw her.
Thankfully, Lefiya regained consciousness and uses her magic. This time, she managed to successfully cast ice magic to defeat the plant creature. I am glad that she gained courage to do so. Also, it ends well as Aiz gives her a potion that she drinks part of. At least Lefiya gets an indirect kiss.
Overall, I have to admit that the Sword Oratoria is enjoyable so far. Sure, there is no Hestia, but Lefiya is a more enjoyable character than Bel at least for nowl. At least she is not too timid. Sure, it took three episodes to gain the courage to use her powers successfully. Let’s hope it doesn’t get to ridiculously powerful levels. While we will eventually see Bell later on the series, which will cause a rivalry for obvious reasons, I think this show has some potential.
Have yet to watch the main show and I was not a part of Hestia-Mania. She didn’t interest me visually. All I hope for is Lefiya gets SOME KIND OF VICTORY with Ais. Would be a waste of time to have her love be cast aside.
We’ll see and I am hopeful, but of course, Aiz is pretty oblivious when it comes to love. This is true in the main series as well, but of course Bell does have Lilly and Hestia.
Basically I’m hoping for something similar to Hidan no Aria AA or Soul Eater NOT! If that’s the case then good.
