From the looks of it, it seems that Akeno got her ship into a nasty situation and before nautical training even started…
I have to admit that I kind of got the show description wrong when I was writing the preview a few backs. It seems that Moka and Akeno wants to become like the Blue Mermaids, who are apparently an all female naval force that aims to protect the sea. In other words, they eventually got into a marine academy to reach their dream goal of becoming one of them. In short, this show is more like Girls und Panzer, but involving naval ships instead of tanks. We’ll find out soon enough if the plot will be a lighthearted or will have drama as the story progresses.
From the looks of it, it’s quite surprising that Akeno and Mishiro managed to end up on the same ship. It’s funny since Mishiro acts cold towards Akeno after Akeno caused her to falling into the ocean after slipping on a banana peel. Not only that, Mishiro is upset that she didn’t got the position as captain despite getting good grades while Akeno got it. Still, it’s funny that Akeno managed to become captain instead to Mishiro’s dismay given that her grades are not that great. Maybe it’s because of her cheerful personality.
Aside from the usual introductions, it seems that Mishiro is dissatisfied that they are going to be late. This makes you wonder if it’s the engine is holding them back or Akeno’s incompetence. Either way, it seems that their instructor, Furushou is worried that they are late, so she decided to take a ship out and fire at them with harmless shells to get them to hurry.
In short, this only created a big misunderstanding. Instead of the girls taking Mishiro’s advice and do nothing since the instructor’s shots were doing nothing, Akeno decides to fire a training torpedo at them. Yes, it stopped them, but Furushou is probably very angry now that her ship got damaged. In other words, Akeno’s ship is now in big trouble for committing mutiny. That is a pretty grave crime there, but hopefully it will get settled out some way or another next time as they try to explain themselves. Still, I think they will get off the hook someway or another since they are rookies after all.
The world needed an aquatic version of Girls und Panzer and we got it. Life is good my friend.
Yep, which reminds me that I need to watch Girls und Panzer someday…
