It wouldn’t be a Key series without a baseball episode as the student council issues a challenge with a baseball player that can control the baseball’s direction after it got thrown.
From the look of it, it seems that Key loves baseball considering that they had a baseball arc in Clannad, Little Busters and Angel Beats. As expected, Charlotte is no exception as the student council decides to challenge a high school student who played on the school’s baseball after refusing to make a promise that he won’t use his supernatural powers anymore.
I have to admit that this episode was very predictable with nobody scoring until the end. Even with the opposing team managing to score at the end, Nao decided to have Yuu, Joujirou and Yusa use their powers to win the game. As expected, the student council’s team won in the end, which isn’t so surprising at all. Still, it seems that the reason the baseball player used the special powers is because he wanted to look after his best friend, which is pretty understandable. Even so, he could have done that by not having to play with the team, but instead watch his friend play instead so that he wouldn’t have to get in the risk of being caught.
As a whole, the fourth episode kind of gives me mixed feelings because we still haven’t learned that much about the reason behind the school’s existence. So far, aside from Yusa’s introduction and Nao’s dark past, it seems that they are focusing on a power user every week instead. Who knows, hopefully next time, they will break the cycle and focus more on character development and the main plot.
Still, I admit that Yusa is pretty cute and of course, Ayumi is still obsessed with the pizza sauce. Yep, her pizza sauce is the next Akiko’s jam. I wonder what she puts in it to make the sauce taste that bad.
