It seems that the official subs for Yuki-chan has been delayed and since I don’t want to hold up my first impressions for Nanoha Vivid, any longer, I may as well share them now.
Note: Future coverage of this show will be covered on a weekly basis.
When I watched this episode, I have to admit that I was not used to seeing adult Nanoha and Fate. It’s mostly because never watched StrikerS, which I don’t have the motivation to do so. Even so, Vivio actually plays a role in StrikerS and yes, Fate and Nanoha eventually adopts her after saving her, which is where this spin-off starts off.
At a glance, I have to admit that the first episode of Vivid feels very similar to the first episode of the first season where we see Nanoha and Fate as her parents and get introduced to some of Vivio’s friends and teachers. I have to admit that Vivio compared to Nanoha when she was a child seems to be more sociable. Not only that, she is really skillful at magic martial arts as seen with match with Nove, something that Nanoha didn’t get a hang of until after several training sessions later. From the looks of Vivio’s training, it seems that Nanoha was a good teacher for her to become that good at such a young age.
As for the transformation scene, while it looked average, I was quite surprised that she transformed into her adult form, something that Nanoha or Fate didn’t experience with their intelligent devices. Still, I find Fate’s reaction to seeing Vivio all grown up really cute. Thankfully, Vivo promised to her Nanoha not to abuse her use new form outside of protecting herself. Even so, I can’t help to think that her adult form is a spitting image of both Nanoha and Fate.
As a whole, the first episode of Nanoha Vivid was enjoyable and I have to admit that it was nice to see Fate and Nanoha again as adults even though they now take the parental role for Vivio. Sure, some people complained about the animation and the world being too much like the present, the animation quality is definitely better than the first season, which looked somewhat washed out until the movie fixed that. Still, I wonder about the Hogh Queen Ingvalt since there are rumors about her that she beaten up several people. I guess she will be Vivo’s first rival next time from the looks of it.
The child of greatness’ time to shine in animated form had finally come and of course I made sure to enjoy every single NanoFate moment we’d be blessed with before the story focused mainly on Team Vivid.
I am sure you can guess how I believe the Nanoha series influenced Hyperdimension Neptunia.
Yep, I can’t wait to see those moments again, which reminds me that I still have the 2nd season of Nanoha and the 2nd movie to watch.
Catch up as soon as you can dood.
