This week has been bad (not only traffic noticeably dropped in the past few days, but also in real life) as the Job Search appears more difficult than I thought. While it’s easy to relate to Shizuka for the fact that she still haven’t received a voice acting role and got rejected many times, she hasn’t given up. I shouldn’t let this setback bother me too much considering that others have it a lot worse. Eventually, it will come.
Now that I vented my disappointment out, it’s time to focus on this week’s Anime impressions…
Dog Days Double Dash – Episode 9
Guess whose back after being absent for 6 episodes? Yes, it’s Sharu! She apparently invites the heroes and other members to see the Priestess of the Sky Sea that resides in the star whale. Of course, it’s infested with lots of sickness demons, which is no wonder why she wants to go and check on it.
While the heroes got separated with Gaul being completely alone, I have to admit that he is very lucky since he meets a girl named Aria. Although she is mute and only communicates through telepathy, she looks cute. Still, I bet after this episode that some viewers will start shipping her with Gaul. Aside from that, I wonder how she got there in the first place since she doesn’t have any clue where she is. Also, there is Faris, who is the Priestess like Sharu. Apparently, she has been fighting the demons on her own. As expected, she is very attractive.
Considering that there are a lot of demons inside the whale, the next episode will probably focus on the two new characters as the heroes find the main cause behind the sickness demons infestation.
Shirobako – Episode 21
After facing many difficulties, the first episode of Third Aerial Girls’ Squad finally aired with a lot of praise. Sadly, it seems that the quality of Hiraoka’s work got even worse when Segawa told Aoi that she was not happy with his work. Heck, she even stated that Tarou of all people produces better quality work than him, which says a lot. Initially, I thought that Tarou was the worst character. After she said that, I have to change my mind and say that Hiraoka is by far the worst character even though Tarou is still annoying.
As mentioned in my impressions for the last episode, most companies are not going to deal with his conceited attitude and poor work ethics. They will just fire him on the spot, unless he has favoritism. Sadly, he only cares about getting the work done on time without any concern to quality. This is a stark contrast to Isokawa, who started his own company. He wants to create a special place for animators to work in and want to work together with the creators so that they can make goals they can agree with. Hopefully from Aoi’s lecturing, Hiraoka will change his ways and hand in his work on time. Still, I highly doubt it.
Aside from that, while Shizuka stopped Aoi from saying that she is a voice actress, I think Nabe-P already took notice. We’ll see if she gets some kind of role by the end of the season.
Last Week’s Power Rankings
Note: Idolmaster Cinderella Girls was not on last week’s rankings since it didn’t air last week. It will reappear next week.
- Shirobako
- Kantai Collection
- Dog Days double Dash
I haven’t caught up to episode 21 of Shirobako yet but…seriously? Shizuka STILL HASN’T GOT A GIG!? They couldn’t pull any strings to get her to work with the gang on the plane girls anime (I’m at ep15)? That’s harsh. Well…life is cruel so the writers figured one of the girls had to represent the “unlucky optimist” of the group. Jeez.
I haven’t watched the latest episode, but I heard that it does not get any better… I doubt it will change in the next two episodes, unless a miracle happens.
