Satone faces her fate and unfortunately give up on Yuuta.
After watching this episode, I felt disappointed for the fact that the writers didn’t even give Satone a chance. Personally, by making her lose, it essentially makes her appearance feel pointless. I felt that the whole awakening the dark dragon is meant to reinforce Rikka as the best girl instead of Satone. It’s such a shame since I felt that I thought she will be a better fit for Yuuta, but the trend on childhood friends losing came in full force here.
On the other hand, perhaps the only positive aspect of this episode was Shinka herself. I felt that she got the stronger end of character development as she begins to accept her chuunibyou while becoming more caring for the other characters despite not getting along with Sanae. She shows this here by giving some encouragement to Satone by giving some advice as Mori Summer. Who knows, she might be secretly in love with Sanae, but doesn’t know it.
While it’s nice to see some significant progress with the relationship between Rikka and Yuuta, I can’t help but think that this season was slightly less enjoyable. Although I enjoyed Satone, I felt that she was tacked on from the beginning. Like other bloggers, I wonder how the second season will conclude with this drama out of the day? I do hope the conclusion will be satisfying despite the downsides.
Poor Satone…this is the curse of the childhood friend! *cries*
I know, I wished the competition was a bit more fierce and that Yuuta wasn’t so obvious that Satone also love him. Oh well, I hope the finale will be good.
