From the look of it, Raku is probably the most unlucky high school student.
I would be lying if I didn’t enjoy it because there were a lot of enjoyable moments, mostly because of the main character, Raku who does not want to take any part of his father’s Yakuza. Out of the blue, Chitoge basically lands on him and causes him to lose his locket that a girl gave to him 10 years ago. While it’s clear that the two will probably never get along, watching them argue and abuse with each other, especially when they get assigned to take care of the school pets was hilarious. Of course, there was more of this when they try to find the locket.
While Raku eventually gets the locket back and it’s already apparent who he received it from, the overall premise of making Chitoge his fake girlfriend is a rather interesting one since his dad is doing it for the sake of the Yakuza. While this episode is meant to set everything up for future episodes, I wonder which way he will go when he loves Kosaki instead. Even so, it will be interesting to see how they will pull off their fake relationship with some comedy.
As a whole, I won’t set expectations too high since I haven’t read the source material. Still, I was still impressed by the production values as expected with Shaft. I look forward to the comedy and the romantic development of his harem.
