At last, Kyoto Animation finally tries something different by focusing on former male swim club members with girly names.
Overall, it’s a breath of fresh air to see Kyoto Animation focus on the female demographic. Now, the attention is now on four male swimmers who used to work as a team named Haruka, Makoto, Rin and Nagisa. You might be wondering, are these girly names? Maybe, but the animation makes them look like girls, just with some muscles! Either way, the rivalry between Rin and Haruka is pretty interesting considering that the latter has natural talent, but doesn’t want to advance his career. However, Nagisa, who looks like Honey from Ouran High School Host Club is somewhat annoying since he tries to pull pranks on his friends. Otherwise, the characters don’t seem to stick out much yet as they are your stereotypical male characters. Perhaps with more development, it will get better.
Considering that there are girls in the school the main character is attending along with Gou, you know what that means. Maybe we’ll see some kind of rivalry when she tries to create a harem of handsome guys? Even so, I enjoyed this episode even though I feel that the production team is trying a bit too hard since it looks like your typical slice of life anime with a female cast, but gender bent. Even so, at least the animation looks great, especially the water animations.
When I read this was about males, I was so happy cause I thought they’d be hot and that this anime would be really funny, but then you said they’re almost like girls, and I was kind of disappointed…
I might give it a chance someday in the future though
Hopefully it will shred the look like girls feelings with the boys in this show, but hopefully they will do something which I can look past from this flaw… but as they say, looks isn’t everything.

I agree with you, but I don’t think them trying too hard is necessarily not a bad thing, for now anyway. It certainly drummed up a little interest from me than that I previously had. Also, for me, the music used is just simply awesome and what stood out the most. Can’t wait to see what Tatsuya comes up with for Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya and Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou.
I’m interested in it too although I had some mixed feelings in the beginning, considering that . Hopefully, we’ll see some interesting stuff with the rivalry between Rin and Haruka with some new comers.
