Poor Ayase… I understand how she feels when her best friend gets ignored because of some video game.
While I don’t play dating sims, I was laughing a lot in this episode since it was so funny. Apparently, Kirino owns a Playstation Vita, which I approve. She apparently plays a game that resembles Love Plus, but dates a girl that looks like Ayase (makes sense since the same voice actress voices a character in Love Plus too), but with a slightly different personality. But either way, I’m quite amazed how much Kirino enjoyed the game as she ignores her best friend while saying some misleading things. At the same time, I just feel bad for Ayase as her friend cares more about her dating game than friendship.
As for Kyousuke giving her some advice, it was really hilarious. He plays the game with her and gets accused for being a pervert for touching Ayaka inappropriately. I also enjoyed him having her to repeat the dialog Ayaka says in the game. But aside from that, I’m surprised that she ends up telling Minami that he did perverted things in front of her in a video game. I suppose that they just became best friends or something as they have something in common like running into him while playing strange games.
While Ayase abused the crap out of Kyousuke, I think she has some feelings for him even though she doesn’t want to admit it. Moreover, she looks really creepy towards the end when she wants to kill him, but can’t. As a whole, I think the second season is doing a better job at capturing the trends of video games/otaku subculture and humor. I highly doubt that the Playstation Vita exists while the light novels were being worked on.
On the other hand, it’s nice to see some of Kirino’s interests rubbing off on Kyousuke as he enjoyed the video game after playing it for so long. I admit that I do play some otaku-oriented video games myself such as Monster Monpiece although I don’t refer myself as one. It’s just my guilty pleasure when I feel like playing it alone so my sister won’t stare at me strangely.
