After the brutal defeat in the last episode, Nanoha and her friends deserve a good rest.
Compared to the excitement in the last episodes with Fate fighting against a strong enemy, this one felt calmer. Considering the injuries Nanoha and Fate sustained, it’s quite obvious that they need a break. Gratefully, they haven’t suffered anything major although their magical devices are taken out of commission. After being fixed, the two intelligent devices complained about missing parts until they realized that they aren’t the average intelligent devices. They too use a Velka-type Cartridge System. While it’s not the same one that the enemy uses, it’s still apparent in the first season as they let out steam after the user executed a strong attack.
Aside from that, the episode shifts back to normalcy as everyone regroups. Obviously, Lindy adopting Fate and then move in the same city close to where Nanoha lives came at no surprise considering that Fate doesn’t have a mother now. After all the moving, we got a nice reunion with Alisa and Suzuka. It’s just funny that Alisa is shocked that she saw Arf before, but she is a lot smaller compared to last time while Suzuka cheerfully pets Yuuno. Maybe she needs to get her eyes checked to see that Arf changed her alternate form. Aside from that, with Fate attending the same school and living close to each other, I expect that their relationship will get a bit more romantic. It’s a sad day for Yuuno/Nanoha shippers as that ship crumbles down to nothing.
From the look of things, it seems that the people who processes the Book of Darkness will have a hard time filling those pages with the Space and Time Administration forces at every corner. Even so, the book is already dubious as nobody knows what happens when all the pages gets filled. Also, we haven’t seen Hayate’s role in all of this yet. Perhaps we will know more in the next few episodes, but for now, the focus is on Fate’s first day at her new school.
