Believe it or not, this is the most melodramatic episode yet, in a comedic way.
Poor Makoto, he desperately wants a romantic relationship, but can’t get one for some reason. The love letter suddenly changed that, but it makes me wonder why he didn’t notice the girl who wrote it. Kumin might have written that, although it maybe out of sympathy after he shave his head as a punishment for ranking girls. Still, it’s unfortunate that he had to cover for all the guys and deal with a year without hair after fearing baldness from his father. Then again, his hair will probably grow back in one year, give or take, so he will have it back in no time.
On the other hand, the girl’s reactions are just entertaining, particularly Shinka. She is shown forcing milk down Sanae’s throat and quickly changing her personality when Makoto came. Even though he found out about “Mori Summer”, her intimidation towards him was rather effective. The funny thing is that even though the two girls will never get along, the two actually laugh together when they look at Makoto’s freshly shaven head for the first time, more so when Rikka made it glow when Yuuta told them not to in both instances. It looks amazing, which is no wonder why Kumin became more interested in him than before.
While it’s kind of odd to see a male character from an anime with a shaven head (Tetsudo from Ano Hana was probably the last one I seen with this hair style), shipping is going full force. From the looks of it, the creators are already jumping on the bandwagon to get Rikka and Yuuta together. This time, the two are shown holding hands while a train passed by. With Rikka’s older sister inviting him to go with Rikka on a vacation, it just makes things more interesting. What it might be is beyond my imagination, but it looks exciting.
