Since summer is finally over, it’s time to focus on the first show I’m watching this fall. Just like Hyouka, it seems that Kyoto Animation was busy working on another project that got announced last year. This show is Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai (中二病でも恋がしたい, lit: I have Middle School Second Year Disease, but I Want to Love!). It has a male lead and this weird girl with an eye-patch. Seems interesting enough until I actually watched the first episode. After that, my mind simply got blown away.
From the introduction, it seems that Yuuta suffered from this 2nd year middle school disease (中二病) that cause people to have behaviors that are downright embarrassing. Needless to say, it’s interesting to see him acting like a dark male hero from a role-playing game that wants to take over the world. Not only he wore a black outfit, said silly lines and wears a bandage on his arm, but also have a silly pose that resembles an attack. While it’s disappointing to see him throw it all away, it’s for the best since no girl would go out with a weirdo except for this girl…
It looks like Rikka still suffers from 2nd year middle school disease and believes that she is living in a fantasy world where she processes super natural abilities. Her right eye is too awesome that she covers it. While she is cute in her own right, her personality is amusing. She apparently knows some video game stuff like the Konami Code that she amusingly used at a soda machine. This makes me wonder if she plays various role-playing games to get all these ideas for her fantasy world. It must be or she wouldn’t have boxes of useless items. Nevertheless, it seems that fate have bought her and Yuuta together.
After watching the first episode, there is no doubt that the story is already exciting. Between the endless boxes of stuff Rikka has and Yuuta deciding not to throw away his embarrassing memories, I wonder if someone else in the same school also have this disease. Not only that, romance will become a factor in the future as shown in the title. Regardless, the craziness for our male lead has just begun.
konami code was a fun moment…I was like “she forgot the B, A!” but she nailed it
Definitely yes… and I caught what she was doing since I’m a video gamer myself. However, I never used it since I don’t really own any Konami games so…
