It’s finally summer, thus we begin the anime of this season. First to air is of course Tari Tari. If you know some Japanese, “たり…たりする” usually lists activities. In English, it will translate out to be “do such things as x and y.”
As you will expect, this show is about two male characters, three girls and music. It sounds familiar, but I haven’t even shared my thoughts about the episode yet!
From my first impression, this show’s art style reminds me of a familiar show animated by the same studio. Yes, it is Hanasaku Iroha and it looks gorgeous. Not only that, one of the characters (Sakai) in the show look very similar to Minko minus the extreme cold personality. On the other hand, there is a hint of True Tears (Besides the song cameo), just with the genders swapped. From Takai suggesting Sakai to get a boyfriend, it’s already indicates that there will be some romance. As for what kind it might be, just wait until you see it!
From the looks of things, it seems like Konatsu had a big fit with a vice principal over not being able to sing. Yeah, teachers can be unreasonable at times, but the scene where she imagines herself shoving all the things on the vice principal’s desk was hilarious. As you expect, she is the cheerful girl who wants to sing. To rebel against the club she was formerly in, she forms another one. I understand how she feels considering that music is her passion. From the looks of things, the vice principal cares about the school’s reputation so much that she wants Konatsu to give up and not give her a second chance. That just wrong since people have stage fright. They just need to get over it. But her inability to change her mind is one of the reasons why people really hate her.
After watching the first episode, I’m pretty confident that this show will become good. I think this is mostly contributed to the lack of Okada Mari’s annoyances since she placed some things like having male characters to cross-dress and stuff that ruined Hanasaku Iroha for some people. Not only that, I liked the characters so far since they have enjoyable personality from a glimpse. Still, I wonder where the show will go from there while the transfer student get used to life in Japan.
Sibling blackmailing at it’s finest! < AHAHAHA YES! Oh and her brother has been quickly dubbed genderbent Ohana because of that hair…yes…messy short hair for the win.
This was a interesting first episode and finally there are GUYS around! I did not like that about Hanasaku Iroha, but hey what can we do when it was centered around the inn anyway? So that sold me and I was drawn in by the headphone girl because she is one of those hyper-cute-girls I usually fall for. Overall for a first episode it has me hooked for now! Lets just hope they stay away from mindless fanservice like episode three of Hanasaku because that scared of most of the fans.
Don’t worry, we won’t be seeing that or any random crossdressing of males in this since Okada is taking no part in it… which I see a good thing… but I might be eating crow if this turns out wrong.
“Wiin” and his TERRIBLY good book about the japanese culture make my day
I wonder how the transfer student will adjust to his new home… but as you mention, it seems that he is doing his best.
@chikorita157 can you do a first impressions on episode 1 of season 2 of dog days?
