Endless summer is Endless… or is it?
Thanks to the girls, the rock granted a wish of a never-ending summer. It’s nice and all, but you will soon realize that doing the same thing is kind of boring. However, I admit that this was more enjoyable compared to Haruhi’s Endless Eight that went on for full 8 episodes. I give them some credit since this felt like the successor of that. At least they realized it and took advantage of the Groundhog Day loop by doing other things like going to a beach and other activities. It’s amusing how Rinko’s mom tracked her and saw that they aren’t at the right place. After experiencing multiple loops, it seems that she learned about the wish that the girls made.
While breaking the endless loop wasn’t as lame compared to doing homework, it’s amazing how the thing that ultimately breaks it is saying “goodbye” to the rock forever. I expected that succeeding at the audition would have done it, but I was wrong. Apparently, the story writers want to take a more meaningful ending by having them accept reality and let Saki move while promising to stay best friends forever. Had they succeed the audition in the last loop, their success wouldn’t have mean anything. Then again, it’s not like they won’t ever see each other since there is high school and college.
Final Thoughts
When I took a look at the first episode, I had mixed feelings. However, it got better as it went on as each girl grants crazy wishes on each other. With some of the nastiness going on, I thought they didn’t like each other or something. Despite the shenanigans, they still remain friends while creating memories that will last a lifetime before Saki leaves.
One of the reasons they stay together is for the fact that each girl has their own quirks. For instance, Yuka is annoying at times, but she has a cheerful personality that brings life to the group. Of course, I also enjoy the other girls, especially Saki since she has a nice personality.
Aside from that, I think Natsuiro Kiseki is a surprisingly entertaining show even though it had flaws such as the plot and the animation for Episode 8. The characters and how they added a twist to the “cute girls doing cute things” shows by adding that troll wishing rock were the major factors. Not only that, I’m a big fan of Sphere, which added to the enjoyment.
