Finally, we get an exciting end to the battle against Caster.
Continuing from last time, Ryuunosuke finally got snipped by Kiritsugu. This only leaves us with Caster, which is a dangerous beast. As Rider holds him by using his Reality Marble, something interesting happens during that time which allows Saber to unleash her true powers. It’s true that Lancer sealed her ability to use her left arm away during the first season. On the other hand, how he gives up one of his Noble Phantasm in the name of defeating Caster to prove his chivalry. Although it’s nice of him to make this sacrifice, I’m afraid that this might become one of his contributing factors of his downfall. Despite this, he helps out by taking down Beserker’s rogue fighter jet down that causing her some difficulty.
If you recall back in episode 11, Rider and Gilgamesh criticized Saber’s view on kingship. However, she proves them wrong in the second half. Most of her weaknesses came after the first servant battle because she became hindered by Lancer’s curse. Since she can use it again, it allows her to summon the Excalibur. It was simply beautiful when it took in the light and ultimately defeats Caster in one shot. The most interesting thing that happens while he gets defeated is Jeanne appearance from the light. Apparently, they used her design from Fate/Apocrypha and shown it at this specific moment. It was a nice touch in my opinion.
With the whole ordeal with Ryuunosuke and Caster finally over, the servants and masters can return back to the Grail War as intended. However, some things in this episode leave us with some questions. After Tokiomi burns all those bugs and puts Karia on fire, Kirei ends up reviving him. The actions Kirei took after he discovers him surprised me since I thought he would kill him instead. I suppose he wants to spare him so he can use Karia against Tokiomi for his master plan. With that and Lancer’s sacrifice, we should have some idea of what will happen in the upcoming episodes.
Um… Kotomine Kirei is the one whom goes to mop up Kariya, only to then decide to spare him. Not Tokiomi. ^_^;
My bad… That was a silly mistake since I meant Kirei, but thanks for pointing that out.
Next one in the line to die is Lancer? Everything seems to imply that to be honest…>_<
It seems like it and given his flashback in the first season and Sola-Ui possibly having some romantic interest with him, things aren’t going to turn out good either way.
