Finally, we are at the last A Channel + Smile OVA consisting of Yuuko getting sick, apple slice carving and the New Years Festival.
Compared to the last OVA, it’s rather subdued since Yuuko comes down with a fever. Even so, we do get to see her younger sister, Keiko for the first time who dedicates herself to her older sister. She even says good things about her older sister to her friends, which is really nice. Sadly, she only receives a few minutes of screen time like every really minor character in the show.
Since Yuuko is absent from school, it’s hilarious how Tooru pokes Nagi instead. You can already tell that she really likes her for various reasons consisting of her body and personality. This affection continues when they stop by.
Eventually, Nagi, Run and Tooru visit Yuuko. It leads to few of the funniest moments like Tooru feeding Yuuko rice porridge and doing it quickly. Also, the three carved rabbits out of apple slices. From the looks of it, Tooru only got it completely right while the other two failed at perfecting it. I guess the two should learn some cooking skills from her one of these days.
As for the New Years festival, not much happened besides Run offering her wallet, which is extremely silly. The only part that stands out is of course the girls scaring Nagi when they rang the bell for their wishes. From that, I guess they really scared her for life now.
Final Thoughts
Despite not being as long compared to the TV series, the two OVAs gave an enjoyable experience. It’s nice to see the girls once again. Not only that, I think the OVAs had more enjoyable moments than the former. Aside from that, it was good and hopefully in the future, they will come up with a second season if it gains enough popularity.
Overall OVA Rating: 8.8/10, B+
I agree with you about how the OVA actually has some funner and more enjoyable moments than the actual anime. It’s still a bit slow and stuff and I’m not finding it as enjoyable as I thought I would but it’s always nice to see your cutesy characters again having one more go at it. If they come out with another season when do you think it would be out by?
Well, it has been a long time since I watch the first season… but there were a few instances where it felt meh. I think the OVA does best since it picks the best moments to focus the two episodes on.
As for that, I wouldn’t mind a second season.
