As the battle rage on with Lancer/Saber taking on Caster while Kiritsugu takes on El-Melloi, Kirei makes a surprising appearance.
Needless to say, Caster not getting defeated by Saber for his despicable acts disappointed me. This only means that he can continue causing havoc by kidnapping children and sacrificing them, right? Not really since Lancer managed to curse Caster’s Noble Phantasm, thus dampening his ability to summon tentacle like creatures. Although he flees in cowardice, this was a small victory as any servant can now go in and defeat him while being mostly powerless.
On the other hand, Kiritsugu at the mansion continues his confrontation with El-Melloi. What awed me is how he manages to severely cripple his opponent the second time after managing to fire a regular bullet that pierced through the mercury shielding the first time. El-Melloi became insane after the magic inside the bullet alters him psychologically and fried his magical circuits as revealed by the woman who made them. Eventually, the Origin Bullets, Kiritsugu’s Mystic Code owned his opponent to the brink of death. However, there are ethical issues behind it. For one, Saber would absolutely disapprove of this since he’s targeting the master instead of using her to duel other servants fairly. Thankfully, Lancer took his master away before he can land a fatal blow, thus preventing a big commotion.
On the other hand, Irisvel and Maiya confront Kirei who is a very dangerous man. Although Irisvel’s ability to tie him to the tree with some kind of bird made of string looked cool, it didn’t stop the inevitable. Not only he severely injured Maiya, but also he choke Irisvel pretty hard and even stabbed her, which looked extremely brutal. To make matters worse, he already knows from Assassin that she isn’t the true master of Saber, but a stand in to protect Kiritsugu. Thankfully, the two women recovered from their injuries through healing magic of the Avalon.
Overall, it’s kind of disappointing that nobody had died after the second confrontation. I really wanted Caster finished off since he is insane and dangerous. On the bright side, He is now vulnerable since his Noble Phantasm got disabled. Also, with El-Melloi critically injured, will Sola-Ui stand in as his replacement? It’s logical considering how much damage the “Origin” bullet did to him.
Casters Noble Phantasm isn’t realy cursed (the one he used on Casters Noble Phantasm just cuts the magical energy while it is in contact with something otherwise sabers weapon would be visible for everyone now after the fight with lancer. Only his other Noble Phantasm is realy a curse). But because lancer stood right beside him he wouldn’t have had enough time to cast something else bevor lancer cuts it again. But since he got away he is still as capable as bevore.
Fantastic! I was looking forward to Kirei’s fight in the woods for so long and it didn”t disappoint. Can’t wait for next week. Wonder what will become of Kayneth.
