A year has passed since the first season of Working (aka Wagnaria) aired and it brought entertaining comedy involving some restaurant workers with eccentric personalities. Few minutes into the first episode of the second season, that punch is finally back!
From last time, it seems that Inami still haven’t gotten over her Androphobia and can’t hold back that sensation. This bothers me because Inami is still my least favorite character for the running gag of using Souta as a punching bag. In comparison, Yukiho Hagiwara just runs away or hides in fear opposed to using violence. As for Yuuno Arashiko, at least she’s making an attempt to get over it even if she’s giving into Taro’s masochism. Despite this setback, Inami made progress and no longer punching other men besides her punching bag. Then again, Souta kind of deserved some of it for calling her a sub-insect.
Besides Inami, Popura was clearly the main focus of the episode. Although she is well endowed, she hasn’t grown one bit. When Souta pets her head and treats her like a younger person, it inevitably gets her upset. It makes me wonder, why doesn’t she think of this as a positive trait? Aside from the height issue, it’s good to look younger than your age since many people desire youth opposed to looking old. Heck, I don’t even look 22 years old and I don’t make a big deal about it. She should simply accept her height and move on. After all, she just gives in and allows him to treat her as usual.
Lastly, there is that instance where Kyoko kills a bug and it doesn’t go well. This was the most hilarious moment in the first episode because Souta gets distraught over “murdering” a tiny bug while unexpectedly adding insult to injury for Inami who punches him again. It’s a known fact that I don’t have a fondness for insects because most of them are pests. For him, he likes anything that is small, which includes insects and clearly he’s will get upset from this. Thankfully, Kyoko calms him down by giving a toy, thus resolving the whole ordeal.
Thankfully, the first episode of the second season brought a lot of the same comedy I have enjoyed from the first season. Although Inami made strides in solving her fear for men, I seriously hope that she ultimately gets over it or I will become very disappointed. Also, Souma giving a suggestion to eat geckos so Popura can grow taller was just bizarre. Who would be that gullible to believe that? Either way, I’m ready for some more craziness they have to throw at us. I’m confident that Maya wouldn’t mind too much.
Where is the megane girl?! WHERE?! 🙁
Maya? She is shown right in the credits, but don’t have any lines in this episode.
For a moment I thought THAT anime blog was involved here…
Sorry about that… Akismet seemed to be acting up lately… but it’s a coincidence.
