Things starts to heat up in the second half of Gosick as Victorique was forcefully transferred to a convent in part of her father’s evil plans.
From the start, Albert de Blois is hungry for power as seen with his failed to seize power with the help from Leviathan during the first storm. To compensate for his failures for the next storm, he basically stole Brian’s girlfriend Cordelia and abused her until he got a child he would use as a tool to control the fate of Sauville. Essentially, he used Beelzebub’s Skull and Victorique as bait to lure Cordelia into his trap… No wonder Brian wants to take down the Ministry of the Occult, it’s essentially the source of Albert’s power that he wanted revenge on him for taking his girl. I don’t blame him because Albert is simply a wicked man who cares about nobody except himself and power.
Episode 18 focuses primarily about the memento box that is apparently stolen by the orphaned woman, which the other spies are after to save their daughter from the ministry. While the mystery surrounding the box is rather simplistic, the episode was rather exciting with the fight between the Ministry of Occult and the opposition. This practically leaves the Woodcutter the only one alive out of the spies that were on the train. Not to mention, Victorique looked badass adorable in the maid outfit, especially when she welds a gun that she uses to disarm the derailment device with the help of Kazuya, which easily makes it the best scene shown thus far.
With the drama at Beelzebub’s Skull finally over and Victorique having the trump card of the Grey Wolf, we can finally expect some more comedy as they transition back to the Academy. Also, it looks like they are going to have some fun with snow!
