While Madoka’s final two episodes are finally finished and set to air this week, Shaft has been working hard with their next light novel adaptation of Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko.
Like the heroine of Hanasaku Iroha, a boy named Niwa Makoto is forced to move after his parents abandoned him to work overseas. He is forced to live with his rather eccentric aunt, Touwa Meme that looks way younger than a 39-year-old woman. She apparently understands and knows how to translate alien language, which her daughter, Touwa Erio speaks. Her personality is enjoyable, but her smile just freaks me out since it doesn’t look so natural.
Also, Erio is actually an alien investigator that is on a mission related to the Earth being targeted in some kind of apocalyptic event. When I saw her in a futon talking in a cryptic manner, it’s expected that she would be a supernatural being. The way she eats the pizza made her look even weirder since she is wrapped in the futon, thus can’t eat any food. After she comes out of the futon in the parking lot with Makoto, she is a really pretty girl. Not to mention, Erio saying “pipipi” was rather cute.
As for the animation, it’s Shaft, so you can expect something good. The opening sequence while not making much sense was very creative and pleasing to the eye. Sadly, the song used for the opening did not sound good, which made it feel like my ears might fall off. To me, it sounded like a jumbled mess. In comparison, the ending theme was the opposite and it sounded well, but not much excitement with the ending sequence.
So far, Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko it’s an enjoyable boy meets girl kind of show with an interesting setup. Hopefully we learn more about Erio and show more of her cuteness.
Erio’s mattress talk was like = WTF are you even trying to say?!
Meme- Wow she is kind of creepy but also very cute when she wants to be
But Erio is damn cute, I am blogging this so it should become a fun show! Shaft always does a good job at odd characters and story! 😀
