Ayase kind of got her best friend, Kirino angry about her hobby. She allows Kyousuke to help her with a gift that will make Kirino happy and forgive her. Sadly, this requires someone to do the most embarrassing thing for a non-Otaku… COSPLAY!
Since, Ayase made Kirino angry by saying that Kirino’s Meruru figures look the same. As a result, she needs to give a gift to her as an apology. From the looks of it, Ayase haven’t warmed up to Kirino’s hobby since she still complains about it. Since she isn’t too knowledgeable about Anime, she asks Kyousuke to help her.
With the help of Kirino’s otaku friends, Kuroneko and Saori, Kyousuke gets an idea to have Ayase participate in a cosplay contest so she can win a limited edition figurine for Kirino. Sadly, Kyousuke suggests a character that looks naughty and too revealing that she slaps him really hard and gets irritated. Of course, who wouldn’t react like that if someone suggests you to cosplay in a revealing and naughty outfit? If I were Ayase, I would slap the crap out of someone who suggests an outfit like that. It might bring out his or her masochism, but it teaches them a lesson.
Luckily, there is a compromise for this situation… Kanako was forced to cosplay as Meruru and participate in the contest.
And take away her escape route along with her clothes…
That’s too bad… Ayase knows how to blackmail her friends!
Bridget-chan came all the way from England to participate. That is called dedication!
Kanako steals the show…
and the harsh reality of idols.
It’s serious business when it comes to idols and Kanako doesn’t really care much about the Otaku subculture. In fact, she bashes it, which letdown Bridget-chan. She even throws the scepter at Bidget-chan, which hits Kyousuke when she couldn’t take it anymore… Yep, Meruru has definitely turned into a dark witch.
From the actions of this episode, I definitely know how this show is going to end… It will probably end with some insults from Kanako, Kanako throwing the scepter towards Kyousuke, Kirino slapping him that will wake up Kyousuke’s masochism and yandere Ayase murdering him with a knife for doing perverted things to Kirino. Nice boat indeed.
I’m just kidding obviously since the girls aren’t all over him nor any of them feel jealous. It has more to do with Kanako acting like a bigger brat than Kirino. Sure she done it because she likes people worshiping her and she didn’t have a choice. This doesn’t mean she should bash it because Ayase blackmailed her. What if Kirino heard what she said? Kirino would be furious and will probably go apesh**.
Nevertheless, Ayase achieved her goal and gives the figurine to Kirino… except Ayase kind of forgot Kanako’s clothes. As a result Kanako went apesh** and was arrested by the police. The arrest is probably the hilarious thing out of the whole episode.
Lastly, I can’t help to think about Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha when I see Meruru. Sure, Nanoha never destroyed a whole building with her attempts to capture the Jewel Seeds, the character designs are familiar in Meruru that you might think about it while you watch the show. Also, the character Bridget-chan was cosplaying looks very familiar to Fate… I guess Nanoha must influence the writers of Meruru so much that they need to have a similar story. From the looks of it’s is a nod for Nanoha…
Meruru probably is a direct reference to Nanoha. Heck, Mururu, Kanako and the announcer for the event (i forget her name) are all voiced by Nanoha’s voice actor!
