Fall 2010 still has a myriad of good and enjoyable Fall 2010 songs so far. Unfortunately, there only a few I really wanted to review in depth. Nevertheless, I still want to share my thoughts about them. 1
I miss you (Veil – Aoi/misuzu) – Fortune Arterial
I had watched the PV video and listened to the whole single and their performance of “I miss you” that sounded pretty solid. There are various versions of “I miss you” including a guitar version, which sounded nice.
However, I can’t say the same thing about the rock version of “絆-kizunairo-色.” It had a lot of rough moments that made it sound messy. After I listened to it, I still preferred Lia’s version since it was cleaner compared to their performance. Overall, it was a good single and I would recommend it along with “絆-kizunairo-色.”
Irony (ClariS) – Ore no Imouto
The single was one of the best in the season besides the mentioned “Neo Moon” that I have complained about in the past. The girls who have performed this are junior high students. This makes me think that some of good talent is young.
Sadly, unlike “Irony” and “KOKORO no Inryoku,” “Neo Moon” was boring and felt out of place. I think they have chosen the wrong style of song to perform. As a result, it turned out that way. This flaw in “Neo Moon “ was mentioned in a single review written by Sorrow-kun, which he explains it rather perfectly.
Nevertheless, it’s still a good single to check out. Just forget that “Neo Moon” had happen and it should be good.
More-more LOVERS!! (Aso Natsuko) – MM!
Can’t really judge its book by its cover since “More-more LOVERS!!” is a rather enjoyable song. The song has a lot of energy that can be seen in her previous singles. Her song gives a smile on your face from her happy performance unlike Ayana’s painful performance of “Help!!”.
Sadly, her second song “Twinkle night star” isn’t as enjoyable as the first song. It was a lot calmer compared to the first song. It makes you feel like its Christmas when it’s nearly a month away. Ironically, I haven’t found anything wrong besides the lack of excitement, so I have no complaints.
Shinryaku no Susume (ULTRA-PRISM) – Shinryaku! Ika Musume
Some music doesn’t have to make sense, as long it’s extremely happy and enjoyable to listen, why not?
Well Denpa is a genre of Japanese Music you see in some of the shows such as Lucky Star. It features cute looking women with cute voices with addictive tunes. This was best explained in this editorial from Anime Diet.
I have to admit, “Shinryaku no Susume” was a very enjoyable and cute song. It was also an earworm at best with “Shinryaku” being repeated over in the intro and throughout the song. As a result, it gets stuck in your head… Strangely enough, such a happy song fits well with a squid girl trying to take over the world while others take advantage of her for comedic effect.
For the rest of the songs, I found them enjoyable and also fun to play in Audiosurf (including the first track).
Since zzeroparticle mentioned the promotional video on Twitter, I watched it. After I watched the video, it looked pretty weird. It had so much unnecessary effects with the singer in so many cute outfits… The promotional video doesn’t really make sense since it has an essence of Denpa.
Lastly, I highly doubt that anyone can sing that high in real life. Her voice has to be done with sound editing software.
Hmm, so denpa is the word for the music genre I am getting to like more and more as I delve deeper into the anime universe. Not sure if that’s something I would want to mention on a first date seeing as how the fluffiness it exudes, which is truly off the charts, can be embarrassing even when there is no one around, if I were to contemplate its nature enough. Nevertheless it can be very good as a way to unwind after a long, exhausting day and boost your serotonin. Shinryaku no Susume is one such single — just as with Lucky Star’s OP, which didn’t really get to me at first, your love for it increases with every listening until it reaches a critical concentration. 😛
It must be interesting to see how those songs would play in Audiosurf; never got into it though so maybe this will give me the incentive.
I find the music rather easy to do in Eraser, especially Elite Eraser even though it has 251 traffic I think…
If you search on YouTube, you should find people who are playing the song in Audiosurf and give you a general idea how they play.
