Fall 2010 Anime Music Rundown – Part I

November 7, 2010 by Chikorita157 6 Comments

As the Fall 2010 heads to its midpoint, its time to take a look of some Anime Music I decided to try out. Besides the MM! opening single I reviewed at Anime Instrumentality Blog, the other singles I tried out was pretty good. This is why I would like to share my brief thoughts about them. 1

絆-kizunairo-色 (Lia) – Fortune Arterial

I had mixed feelings about “絆-kizunairo-色”  since it sounded a bit rough compared to her previous tracks… Several seconds in, Lia lacked clarity and it almost sounded like a Vocaloid. Besides from that, the instrumentals were pretty good.

Also included in the single is her version of “I miss you”, which actually sounded better than the opening song. I have yet listen to Veil’s version of the track used in the show, so I will give it a try later on.

Moon Signal (sphere) – Otome Youkai Zakuro

I love this song since it was so upbeat and the singing was good. There were a few moments where Toyosaki Aki sang that sounded meh. Otherwise, the other three girls’ performance was good.

Hopefully, I will begin writing a review on this single pretty soon, so look forward for it.

Down Town / Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta Nara –(Sakamoto Maaya) – Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru

Even though Shaft’s effort on Soredemo was mediocre, the opening and ending songs don’t have to be. After I read zzeroparticle’s review on the single, I was convinced and tried out this single. It had the goodness of Sakamoto Maaya’s singing from the previous albums. So, if you are not watching the show, take a listen to this single anyway and you will be quite amazed show good it sounds.

Seikai wa Hitotsu! Ja nai!! – Milky Holmes

If the show is so sugary, why not have an opening that causes diabetes from the sweetness? Well, “Seikai wa Hitotsu! Ja nai!!” Is just that and I actually enjoy it. Like the over the top cuteness, the song is extremely upbeat and fun to listen to. The singing was average, but not enough to make it unappealing.

Also, the B-side track was okay, but not as enjoyable compared to the first track.

Conclusion

To my surprise, the Fall 2010 songs are rather good besides the one single I mentioned. Hopefully this trend continues when the ending theme singles release.

No “irony” love? You are following OreImo right? ~_^ The single by ClariS is amazing, it’s got another excellent track plus a good remix of the OP.

Another one I like is “Shinryaku no Susume”.

Ah, yes… I forgot about irony, but the reason I did not mention it since I haven’t finish listening to the whole single. I just can’t bring myself to listen Neo Moon since some say it wasn’t good.

Thehe, well yeah, it isn’t really on the same level as the other songs on the single but it sure as hell isn’t horrid either – I’ve actually listened to it about 5 times so far. Usually, I play the tracks #1 and #2, “irony” and “ココロの引力” (I don’t even know how that translates but I’m in love with it) so while I’m at it I listen to the whole CD sometimes, including your dreaded “Neo Moon”. 😀

I put it in the translator and it translate to “Attraction of the Heart”… Not sure if thats right, but whatever…

I thought that Lia’s performance was really staccato which is quite the departure from her smoother deliveries, but that doesn’t diminish the song any less and I do enjoy it though it’s probably my 3rd or 4th favorite out of all the stuff I’ve listened to this season. Lia’s vocal work is consistent to say the least.

As for Moon Signal… well, I won’t say what I think about it until I read your single review, but I will say that my favorite Sphere song to date has been the OP to that military show that involved some fox-girl whose title I’m too lazy to look up.

Lia performance wasn’t bad…. but it’s different in a way from the various tracks I have in the library… I still think it was still a good song considering I have seen a few bad ones…
