Shinryaku! Ika Musume is still one of those shows that I enjoy the most besides Ore No Imouto. It works since it uses the same proven formula, have a cute girl doing cute things and throw some funny jokes in about her. Well, In this episode, it’s all about saving lifes, celebrating birthdays and a girl who likes to dress Ika in cute outfits…
In the first part of the episode, it focuses on a lifeguard named Gorou who ends up saving Ika since she sort of lost her ability to swim. Well, she admires him at first for his love of the sea and the desire to protect it. Shortly after, Ika goes against him since he interrupted the spreading her beliefs over a megaphone. Since he became Ika’s enemy, she sabotages him by grabbing his leg with her tentacles while he is saving a child that drifted too far into the ocean. As a result of her actions, she had to save the child. It just proves that you should never interfere with the lifesaver’s job since its serious business.
In the second part, Ika decides it’s her birthday. Since it was her birthday, they throw a party for her. They even gave her trick candles on the cake; you know the ones that don’t go out without putting them in water. Well, Ika tries so hard in blowing them out that she accidently releases squid ink all over the cake. Whoops!
Next, they played with fireworks, which was not a good idea since naïve girls will probably do stupid and dangerous things with them. For instance, Makoto threw live fireworks in Yuuichi’s bedroom as a cruel prank. Unfortunately, Ika fell into that trap since squids are actually attracted to light. Since she was careless, they backfired on her and she got hurt.
After they celebrated Ika’s birthday, she still wants another birthday. Probably someone should tell her that she has 364 UNbirthdays1 that she could celebrate.
The last part involves a girl named Sanae who takes Ika while Eiko walks her dog. Sanae dresses Ika in every cute outfit she owns and takes pictures of Ika wearing them. After she takes all the photos, she prints them out and places them in an album. This makes me wonder if the show is promoting some kind of child labor…
Overall, This episode is very enjoyable like the last one even if it goes against the ethics like environmentalism and child labor. Light Hearted shows like Shinryaku! Ika Musume gives me a smile on my face after a day of hard work.
