Well, this is probably one of the strangest visual novel adaptations I ever saw so far. Yosuga no Sora is simply crazy on what they throw at the viewers in the first episode… We have this pretty white hair guy, a sister of the same age, an already made harem and of course the risque scenes1 of some girl doing you know what and some twin incest. Because of the rather mature content, It makes me feel so guilty when I watch this show that it could even be considered a guilty pleasure 2, more so than Kampfer ever will be.
The first episode did not give me that much in character development. All we know is that Haru and Sora are twins and Sora suffers from some kind of illness. We also meet some rather stock characters such as a meganeko, a genki girl, an oujo and a maid. All three of these girls seem to have really unrealistic bust sizes and they always seem to bounce. At least they don’t throw us panty shots or even flying panties.
Back to the story, Haru’s and Sora’s parents seem to have died from some unknown accident. As a result, they are moving back to a small town which does not have internets. Like myself, Sora cannot live a day without the internet! This is probably a reason I have an iPhone to stay connected! 3
So, why did I say that Yosuga no Sora is a guilty pleasure? Well, besides from the incest, there are some rather risque scenes with some girl bathing with her nipples showing (no censor steam)! In the character story, the maid does some rather sick stuff to keep her sex life… well, you know… This makes Mai’s eroge scene in Kanon look like its nothing!
Besides from the perverted side of things, I have to say that the animation and music are rather nice to hear and listen to. Too bad it was undone by the pointlessness they throw in.
Will I continue? I’ll give it two more episodes, but from what I have seen, I have some doubts about the show.
So, this pretty much ends what I want to taste test in the Fall Season… unless some other title catch my attention. I doubt it!
Some Notes
I’m not sure why you say sex is perverted. Is it because it’s in anime? Sex doesn’t have to be perverted, perversion is a state of mind.
Also, “unrealistic bust sizes” and “bouncing”. While this is a common form of fanservice, it’s not unrealistic. I can speak from personal experience that girls of those ages can have bust sizes that big, and with poor support from bad fitting bras, you can have a bounce effect. It is enhanced for the show, maybe, but you could also say that proper fitting underwear is hard to find in the rural setting, just like internet.
Gah, I’m analyzing breast physics now. 😀
Maybe they need support… Oh wait, now I am going to sound perverted, but that could be a explanation.
If you take fan service completely out of the equation, it’s really not that bad of a show… That’s if you don’t get so disgusted over then incest…
Haru does look a bit girlish though. :p
I think the most unrealistic thing about the breasts is the amount of girls that are larger than average in Japan.
I’m not calling this fanservice yet, it feels integral to the story…well everything except the last part with the maid.

He’s a harem stereotype; in fact, he fits the bill – soft spoken, unbelievably thoughtful, gentlemanly. Many other guys would fall into ridiculously ordinary, unlucky man territory, a.k.a. the Boring One.
Then how about Ladies vs. Butlers? =P
Let’s not go there since Ladies vs. Butlers is horrible compared to this. I would consider this a more risque version of ef or something.
Whoa, this sure was unexpected. I only played one route in the VN and it was extremely tame, with minimal drama and no tWINCEST, so honestly I have no idea what to expect now. Still, there’s a rather large spike in fanservice. Although as long as it doesn’t get in the way of the story, I’m all for fanservice. Still, I hope this doesn’t bomb horribly like School Days. At the very last, a good train wreck is fine too.
I saw the review of the VN… and yes, the CG was nice, but everything in Sora seems to take the cliches from all the other eroges out there. I highly doubt it would end in a Yandere killing the male lead since there is nothing in the VN thats pointing to that. Probably the thing will hurt it is the original story from the source material and the little erotic scenes they put at the end.
Our good ol’ twincesty Sora acts more like a terminal cancered tsundere than a murderous yandere. Besides, from what the first episode has shown, she goes on an all-out cold shoulder and silent treatment on Haru, then the next you know, she’s stripping.
It’s a shame that I started and then I was like “If I started this, let’s finish it.” Meh, it’s not so good, I can say if you into that sex anime (half-hentai), ok, watch it, if not, it will not make any difference in your anime résume.
I have taken a glimse at the rest of the episodes in the blogosphere, but yeah… not so compelling even though the incest happened in the end. Believe me, anyone who aren’t into this probably need brain bleach to get the disturbing images out of their head.
For me, I will not resume it since it’s so bad.
