Wait? Why this animation looks so familiar… The Sky? Didn’t I heard about that before…
Not realizing this, this show is made by the same studio that is made Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu… Although some themes are familiar to a very famous visual novel, it’s not the same…
Synopsis
Yorito is obsessed taking pictures of the sky. In waiting to take a picture of the sunset, he finds a strange girl trying to get the can of juice from the machine. After helping her, she disappears and can’t be found. Next day at school, he show the the present that he is giving to his older sister, Aono to Mana and she disapproves of it. Then, they celebrate her birthday at the hospital with Mana’s little sister, Koyori. Yorito hands the present to Aono, but she disapproves of it and throws it in a box of dolls. At dinner, Yorito goes out to buy groceries to make dinner and he meets the strange girl again with the umbrella trying to do the trick he done the day before, but caused the umbrella to fly in the sky and he sees the inside to be like the sky. After trying to help her again, he manages to get the drink again. Then they talk about the sky and finally the strange girl reveals herself to be as Matsuri and gives a picture of a church.
Meanwhile, a mysterious man finds a box with a young girl inside and takes her in and feeds her. Next day, he didn’t go to the hospital and he hooks up his camera and finds out it was the same church.
At night, Matsuri, who is living in the church gets into a battle with a mysterious man who is trying to kill her. Meanwhile, Yorito got to the church, opens the door and he finds out what is happening with the mysterious man and Matsuri.
Thoughts
Overall, this episode is good with good animation. The story as you expect with most in the drama genre start up slow before we get into the story. As you expect, the characters and themes resemble the ones in AIR, but there is a difference… sola seems to have less moe than Air, but thats fine if the story comes out fine, but then again, Air didn’t have nearly as much moe as Kanon and Clannad did and sola have more action to add to the drama… well, I will see how it will hold up later on into the series..
You might want to know why I have mentioned Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu… sola is made by the same studio, Studio Diomedea, but before Nogizaka Haruka was made in 2008. This is probably why there is a MAD using the Nogizaka Haruka OP.

OP and ED
“Colorless Wind” by Aira Yuki
“Mellow Melody” by Ceui
Haven’t heard them fully yet… though… but I think it’s good, but I don’t know.
Verdict
9/10
Good hooking episode imo. As I recall, I was fully captivated at episode 1 ^^
