As I have mentioned several months ago about Shiori being my most favorite character and it still is… but I started on playing Shiori’s arc in the Visual Novel… but noticed some differences… but the anime seems to be very accurate and also left out some parts since Ayu is the principal character that Yuuichi ends up in the Anime.
This is what I noticed: (VN spoilers ahead)
The Same:
– Ayu crashing into the tree, attempting to hug Yuuichi, which makes Shiori drop her shopping bags.
– Sketching of Yuuichi by Shiori (although this was done at the fountain in the Anime)
– Snowball Fight (at the fountain)
– Shiori getting a score of zero in “Wack-a-Mole” and Yuuichi’s mean remarks.
– Shiori’s classmate revealing the truth one day after Yuuichi visited Shiori at the quad.
– Shiori telling Yuuichi what happened when she first met Yuuichi and Ayu on the last day.
– Epilogue
The main plot of the story remains the same, but a few differences I will mention below.
Differences:
– After being rejected, Yuuichi falls into a depression… On the second day, Kaori is outside of the quad saying that she promised her to have lunch together when spring came. Third day, she was absent from school and later at night, Kaori calls Yuuichi to have him meet her about Shiori at school. (This part is in the anime) Kaori reveals that she is Shiori’s sister, but kept her distance from her because she doesn’t have much time left and it would be painful to her to watch her to become weaker. Although most of this scene is the same, in the VN, Kaori reveals that Shiori ask her to do this.
– Yuuichi meets Shiori at the fountain after talking to Kaori… and finally she confesses to him. In the anime, this happens a day after Kaori talks to him.
– Kissing scene takes place on the same time mentioned above. In the Anime, this happens after Shiori’s birthday party.
– Two times, Yuuichi takes Shiori to the shopping district to find a present… In the anime, this happens once.
– In the Anime, Kaori acknowledge that Shiori is her sister after her birthday party. In the VN, this takes place after they have a outing at the cafe.
– Yuuichi takes Shiori to the Hyakkaya cafe. After ordering, Kaori and Nayuki entered, but Kaori was reluctant to come since her sister is there. In the Anime, this was done during the birthday party.
– Towards Shiori’s Birthday, Shiori lies down on the snow since she couldn’t walk, but was able to make a sketch of herself on the sketchbook with the same message as mentioned in the anime.
Not in the Anime:
– Yuuichi tries to confess to Shiori at the fountain, but got rejected since she wasn’t ready.
Not in the Visual Novel:
– Yuuichi and Shiori never made a Snowman.

Impressions
In the visual novel, it’s more apparent at Yuuichi spent more time having fun with Shiori than in the anime (considering there is only 3 episodes covering her arc). However, Shiori’s arc is the most dramatic and also the most impacting to the viewer in the Anime and the Visual Novel. However, I still feel that Shiori’s arc is still the best arc in Kanon, no matter what they all say…
In my opinion Shiori is the best character from Key games character.Because she loves arts like me, she wear interesting clothes and she is very shy.
