Although we don’t want summer break to end, break ends for them. This leaves us with the most feared activity for Yui… Running long distances!
There are always some things that we just don’t want to do such as going to school, work or participating in a field day event. The best solution is to make a wish that tomorrow would rain or snow a lot so the event/work or school day would be canceled. Like always, weather is unpredictable and it could result in undesirable effects.
I remember seeing a doll in Kobato when a girl from a nursery brought them in to sell at the bazzar that the nursery was hosting. The dolls that the girl was going to sell were Teru teru bozu, which people hang to wish for a sunny day and stop rain. I found it funny how Yui believes that making and hanging the Teru teru bozu upside down would make it rain. It’s ironic since hanging them either way prevents a rainy day no matter what. The reaction on Yui’s face after the dolls failed to make it rain made me laugh out of my seat.
For the running parts, I know the pain. Running for a very long time isn’t an easy task, even for Nayuki who is great at running. The way the four girls kept their spirits up were rather entertaining. In the end, Azusa, Jun and Ui beats the other girls.
The marathon won’t be so exciting without an unexpected plot twist. Mio, Ritsu and Mugi suddenly found that Yui was missing and everyone goes in panic mode. In the end, Yui was at grandma’s house and was completely safe. They finish the race while poor Sawako gets lost in a forest with an empty stomach. Ouch…
With a big misunderstanding from Yui revealing that she ate one of the mochi. As a result, the last person won’t be able to eat mochi. This leaves us with the most epic race to the finish line with Mio rolling in a cool manner. Of course, this completely embarrass her because she stood out, but hey… popularity is good thing.
In the end, this turned out to be a very enjoyable marathon even though it’s nothing special. I wished that I had marathons like this in real life, but hey… I don’t like running long distances, so its fine.
Next Episode: Well, its time to prepare for the festival… again.
Verdict
8.7/10
It’s enjoyable but I thought it was kind of weak. It felt a bit dragged out. Mio made me laugh though.
