This episode pretty much made me hate Haruhi so much because of her despicable and outrageous actions, I should of rename this arc: “Everyone hates Suzumiya Haruhi” because she is being the biggest b-word in the world… but that would offend some fans…
During the filming of the film, Kyon starts to get annoyed and eventually flips out at Haruhi for mistreating Mikuru.
Synopsis
The SOS brigade and Taniguchi, Kunikida, and Tsuruya goes to the lake which they started filming again. Haruhi insists of putting the blue contact in Mikuru’s eye again, but Nagato knowing what will happen again runs and tackles Mikuru to remove it and inject a nanomachine. With the second blue contact removed, Haruhi have a outrageous idea of Taniguchi, Kunikida, and Tsuruya throwing Mikuru into the pond which made Kyon angry and started to argue with Haruhi, but Mikuru agrees to do it and she was thrown in the water by the three while Kyon was recording it Then, Kyon gets into another argument with Haruhi, but Tsuruya-san decides to go to her house so she can get changed so she won’t catch a cold and Haruhi approves that idea.
After they agreed, they arrived at Tsuruya’s house which was big. Then, Haruhi tells Tsuruya what to do next and they give the drinks. Then, they start shooting, with Mikuru waking up and Haruhi tells Itsuki to kiss Mikuru and Kyon interrupted them and starts arguing with Haruhi again. Then, Tsuruya started to laugh and reveals that she spiked her juice with amazake, a alcoholic drink and looks at Haruhi because it was her idea. Then, tells Itsuki to cut it out and he tells that he will stop, but Mikuru, in her states still agrees. Then, Haruhi starts hitting her for not having the right reaction which made Kyon angrier since Haruhi’s actions was despicable. Eventually, Kyon tells her to cut it out and flips out at Haruhi which gets into a bigger argument. Then, Kyon said that “Mikuru is not her toy” although Haruhi insists that she is which causes Kyon to try and punch Haruhi in the face which he almost did, but Itsuki prevents him knowing the consequences. Then, Haruhi flips out and Kyon, being restrained, trying to let go and try to punch Haruhi, but couldn’t. Then, Mikuru comes by Kyon and begs Kyon to stop fighting with Haruhi.
After the whole ordeal, Tsuruya apologizes to Kyon and said she will take care of Mikuru and send her home once Mikuru is well. After leaving, Itsuki shows Kyon the doves which Haruhi desires them to be white.
Next day, with Haruhi being upset from the commotion from yesterday, Kyon finally decides to go to the club room and agrees on continuing the film, thus continuing the craziness of the film making. After school, they decide to find a stray cat for the movie.
Thoughts
Overall, this episode was pretty good since the animation and art style have improved alot… but what have been bothering me over the whole course of the whole arc is Haruhi being the biggest, spoiled brat and also being the biggest b-word made me hate her even more and eventually hate her for good with the help of this episode since Haruhi have been using Mikuru as a toy which nobody would do in real life, except perverted people. Let me outline the despicable acts Haruhi did in this episode:
- Haruhi’s idea of having Mikuru being thrown in the polluted pond
- Haruhi trespassing on Tsuruya’s home which is wrong in Japan.
- Haruhi’s idea of having Tsuruya-san spiking Mikuru’s juice so she can be more agreeable to Haruhi
- Having Istuki and Mikuru almost kiss each other
- Hitting Mikuru on the head for having the wrong reaction (in the novel, she smacks Mikuru in the head opposed to hitting her with her mic)
- Haruhi calling Mikuru her toy.
Compared to the novel if you haven’t read, the violence with Kyon flipping out was toned down a little. Kyon’s reaction, as epic as it is, is predictable on how Haruhi is deciding on outrageous and despicable action towards Mikuru with Haruhi hitting Mikuru being the biggest no-no ever since it’s very disrespectful to hit a girl, reguardless of any gender…
While watching Haruhi doing despicable acts to Mikuru, It made my blood boil and I felt like punching Haruhi hard in the face to teach her a lesson for being the biggest, spoiled, immoral, despicable b-word out there! I know most people would want to punch Haruhi in the face after she started hitting Mikuru… but you got to know why everyone hates Haruhi… It’s Sighs after all, the lowest point in the whole series.
P.S: Haruhi is NOT a tsundere… I wish most people would stop because she is far from being one… She is just a spoiled and cruel b-word out there! I know tsunderes would not act like a spoiled and cruel b-word 100% of the time…

If Haruhi treated anyone else this badly, I’d be pretty angry at her. But it’s just Mikuru, and she’s a chewtoy, so its just funny watching her suffer
You didn’t understand at all what Haruhi was going through, did you? Watch episode 13 (broadcast order) of the first season again and try to think how desperate she felt when she realized that there was nothing worth of living, and that all she could do was to give up or to look for something that isn’t insignificant or ephemeral. She realized that humans are less than dust, so how can you say that she was being cruel? That’s like saying that you’re cruel because you kill a cockroach. But she’s desperate because she knows she is a cockroach too, and obviously she doesn’t want to. Morals? morals are just rules that we made so we don’t have to think about how we live, so we don’t need to decide what to do. Just do “the right thing” and your life will go well!
I’m just telling you this because I went through something like that and believe me when I say, it’s not nice at all to realize this stuff. Because you can’t escape reality.
If u say anything negative about Haruhi ur the selfish one not her! Yeah Koizumi spoils Haruhi but it’s not HER problem. She’s just confused and doesn’t know what’s happened to her in life. Don’t u remember in episode 5? Our little Suzumiya wuz an innocent little girl just bored with life. And im not trying to force u to think what i think for i respect ur opinion, but i just want to clarify this to u. And don’t u remember in Remote Island Syndrome 1-2, episode 6 and Live Alive? Haruhi wanted to either b playful with the brigade or help Miyuki and Takako. So take my wise advice: think about the past and reflect on how nice Haruhi has been before. Nice to meet u by the way!
Seriously, this post is like over 9 years ago and of course Kyoto Animation trolling over Endless Eight didn’t help. But if I were to rewatch it, my opinion might change.
