Sadly, my nightmares have become true! The band sounded worse than I could imagine… There is no wonder why some enthusiastic members were upset at the slackers, especially Reina.
At long last, the girls finally retrieve their instrument of choice after deciding on to play from last time. While the practice sessions and breathing exercises are some of the things I experience during my time in concert band, it seems that there were some slackers. This is evident with one member in Asuka’s group since she didn’t bother not showing up or practice in the next session.
I have to admit that while I didn’t practice that much on my time, I always sound good enough and improve myself during lessons and rehearsals. While I never advanced any further because of it, I still had enthusiasm for music for the fact that I also played the piano since my childhood and done music auditions. Sure, we had a bunch of slackers, which irritated the band teacher, but at least it didn’t sound bad even though we were playing tough concert band pieces. In comparison, these members can’t even play an easy piece correctly, which just shows how much commitment most of the members have.
The problem I see here is that most of the 2nd years who were serious about it have left over some dispute, thus leaving a good amount of members who just don’t care at all. Because of that, those who are slacking off just bring it down for everyone else, thus leaving the newcomers on their own. I guess the band instructor wouldn’t be too harsh if they didn’t aim for nationals. Since they are, he had to say that they are wasting his time. I can’t blame him since I would be mad if the band sounded like that. It’s downright embarrassing. Hopefully with Reina’s playing and her screaming at the end, hopefully we’ll see a change in pace and perhaps those slackers will shape up or quit.
As a whole, the drama in this episode was well executed given the poor state the club is currently in, especially when they decided to aim for nationals. It’s apparent that they can’t have it both ways. If they want to play at the festival, they will obviously need to shape up and perhaps take their instruments home just to practice to show to the instructor that they are ready. We’ll see what they decide to do next time.
Like always, I can’t get enough of Asuka, even when she is annoyed.
Asuka’s a goddess, Hazuki’s adorable and Sapphire’s a diamond in the rough. A most excellent job the three a re doing carrying the show on their backs until the rest of the group stop slacking off and start showing charisma.
I agree, Asuka is still very enjoyable indeed.
Hopefully the first years do something to bring the club back to it’s senses.
