Sadly, not all announcements were good news as VisualArts gave an announcement that caused some Key fans to go ballistic. Yep, it’s JC Staff doing the animation for Little Busters. (Image Source)
As you might have known several months back, a Little Busters anime finally got announced (which is currently airing now). However, I remembered that several people blew up over the announcement that JC Staff is doing it and it’s going to be bad because it’s not Kyoto Animation. As we know already, Kyoto Animation was already busy with Hyouka and Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai that they can’t be bothered with another project. The reaction was so bad that I even wrote my own rebuttal defending their decision.
Was it worth getting worked up after it finally aired? Not really since the anime wasn’t bad at all, but slightly above average despite a few changes in the plot along with a small downgrade in animation quality. Not only that, there was some instances where it’s pretty close to the visual novel, although it’s quite obvious that there will be a good amount of content excluded due to length constraints. Despite complaints from a few devoted visual novel players, I don’t think the effort that JC Staff is putting into the adaptation is half-hearted compared to the utter garbage that Toei Animation put out with Kanon, Air and Clannad. Not only that, I even decided to play the visual novel on my free time, so it wasn’t a complete loss. So basically, the whole thing was just overblown in my opinion, which is why I decided to give it a mention.
