When a storm comes, what should you do? Make bread of course!
Needless to say, this episode gave the same feeling as the first episode, except for the arrival of a massive storm. I don’t know, but making and delivering bread isn’t that exciting. I mean, there are tons of things that excite me such as Hidan no Aria because there is a Kugimiya Rie tsundere 1. Heck, I enjoyed Papa no Iukoto o Kikinasai more than bread because of Hina’s cuteness! Sadly, this show is really not cutting it for me since everyone makes the storm look a big deal with all the preparing even though the damage was minor. In fact, I survived through Hurricane Irene without any injury, except for a flooded basement. However, other people who lives in New Jersey suffered major loses from this disaster, so it’s bad either way.
Although I was cynical about the storm and the bread, there are a few things that I liked in this episode. First, Airy is very kind to look after a little girl while her mother protects the orchid. The replica of her mother that Airy made out of bread was kind of cute too. Second and most important, Alvin finally warms up to the heroes after taking a bite of Rick’s bread. His reaction was probably the best moment of this episode.
As a whole, Shining Hearts ~Shiawase no Pan~ still leaves me with a disappointing taste in my mouth. Not only that, I ate dinner while watching this show! Even so, I think they have finally gotten over the bread thing as we see Rick doing some sword fighting to save that girl. From this, I hope there are some exciting moments next time besides making and delivering bread since I still believe that there is some potential left. Otherwise, I have nothing else to say.
Some Notes
- Which is ironic because she actually voices one of the characters in this show and the game. Yes, it’s a tsundere. ↩
This show really needs to cool it with the bread >.>
Yeah, at least Sanae’s bread had a lot of creativity even though it tastes horrible… and Clannad didn’t even focus too much on making bread, although her bread was a running gag throughout the whole series.
On the other hand, I think they finally gotten over the bread in the next episode. Hope it’s true.
