Again, it’s my birthday. As I reached the midpoint of my 30s, another year passed as I turned 35. Sure, I didn’t accomplish too much when I was 34, but I may as well share my thoughts.
…
Wait, it’s already my birthday. While today I leave my early 30s as I turn 34, it has been an eventful year. Besides going into the office for a whole year, I did accomplish quite a bit.
…
Oh wait, I am already 33 years old. Well, I certainly don’t feel or look like it. Even so, I want to briefly reflect on the past year of my life along with some plans.
…
I know that it’s probably a meme that everyone mentions by how fast a year can go by. With that, I finally turned 32. Yes, I am that old already. Obviously, I felt that I didn’t do much since the pandemic has forced many to stay home.
…
As expected, time flies by so quickly. Now, I finally turn 31 years old. I have to admit, by 30th year was definitely a year of redemption. Yes, last fall, I finally received that job offer for a different federal IT job and the rest is history. So far, I find my new job a lot better than my first job since it’s closer to what I want to do and such. Also, my health improved, especially now that I lost close to 20 pounds and going back into the healthy weight range.
Of course, the whole Covid19 pandemic has affected my plans on what I wanted to do. Moreover, the whole pandemic gotten worse in the United States due to gross mismanagement from an obvious leader of ours. Not only that, this kind of impacted anime releases as well due to the pandemic. It brought some challenges of my flogging motivation to blog and lack of the titles to cover. Hopefully we will overcome the challenges.
As mentioned earlier, my blog’s domain finally turns 10 years old in two days. It took about a year and a half of not having one to eventually obtain one. Either way, it shows how far we come in the longevity of my anime blogging career.
While this birthday post is short, I just want to thank all my readers, followers, and people who comment on my blog for supporting me for these years. Let’s make the next year a great one, hopefully once the Covid19 pandemic is finally under control. Also, feel free to say Happy Birthday in the comments below.
Oh my gosh, I am already this old? Today, I turn 30 years old, which shows how fast time passed by. However, it shows how far I come in terms to my tastes in anime along with how much I watched. Hopefully my life situation will improve very soon now that I now have my Comptia Cybersecurity Analyst certification. I plan to earn more certifications soon (e.g. MCSA and eventually CISSP).
While this birthday post is short, I just want to thank all my readers, followers, and people who comment on my blog for supporting me for these years. Let’s make the next year a great one. Also, feel free to say Happy Birthday in the comments below.
As expected, the whole year went by so quickly. Today, I turn 29. Yes, I still struggling in regards to real life, which I won’t go into detail. Luck hasn’t been on my side in the past few years. Despite the set backs, I still hopeful that things will become better in the future. Sure, the struggles I am facing are only temporary, but it doesn’t mean it will stay that way.
This reminds me that my blog will turn 10 years in 6 more months. It’s surprising that I have been writing about anime along with video games and eventually video games. It definitely kept my sanity by allowing to share my passion for them, improve my writing skills along with interacting with others. As always, I plan on continuing, unless I run out of shows and things to review of course.
With that, feel free to say Happy Birthday in the comments below.
It seems that a year past by very quickly. Today, I turned 28 years old. I felt that I didn’t accomplish anything major during the past year. It’s not surprising since how rough the past year is. While I won’t share much about my real-life problems since it’s personal, hopefully things will get better soon. I know it’s tough, but one has to hang in there. Given how crazy this year is for obvious reasons, anything can happen.
With that, I want to keep things short. As a celebration, I plan on streaming games for most of today, mostly Blue Reflection. If you want to watch, head over to my twitch channel.
It’s that time of year again and yes, today is my 27th birthday. It seems like yesterday since I turned 26th when I started my first job. Now that I passed my first year of working at the job I am in, I got a taste of living independently. This is something that most people in my generation doesn’t get to experience due to debt and low wages.
I have to admit that the past year was rough, especially with a lot of things happening in 2016. As I shared earlier, my grandmother past away in March and of course, I experienced car problems late May and early June. It definitely had a damper on future plans such as possibly going to Anime conventions. I need to pay off the car off before I think about going to any. Not only that, I need to start thinking about dating as well since I want to start a family in a few years or so. Aside from this and other priorities, don’t expect this to change anytime soon. It’s mostly because these conventions are very expensive and there is none where I live.
Aside from that, my JLPT preparation is going steady, but I plan on taking the exam in 2017. I need more time to prepare and polish my Kanji knowledge. Aside from that, the blog will also see some changes, especially in the design aspect. The font changes are now in effect since last week. Eventually, the theme will get redesigned with plans of commissioning for a site mascot. With that, I am hoping to get the forums started again after sitting there for a year collecting dust. It will be an addition to this blog, which will allow discussion of series I don’t cover on this blog and other things. Hopefully these changes will improve discussion on this blog.
With that, feel free to say Happy Birthday in the comments below.
Today I turn 26 years old and it feels like I’m not getting any younger. Last year, besides winter being cold like the year before, I finally finished my master’s degree and completed studying the Advanced Japanese Textbook. While the job search was rough and at times, which made me felt discouraged at times, luckily found a job within 5 months after graduating in the Federal Government, although I had to relocate.
I started working on the 27th of July and so far, it has been a good experience so far. I will be learning more on various database tools, data warehouses, database administration and more on security (yes, I will be getting a Security+ certification, which is being paid by my employer at the end of this month). Not only that, the transition to living on my own has been going well so far as I finally got used to driving and doing chores own my own. It took some time adjusting to this new life, but I can admit that the future looks bright, providing I do not screw up. I highly doubt I would since I worked so hard to get here. Still, I have to admit that I was lucky.
With that, what does the future holds as I turn 26. Well, a lot of things. While I have to pay for living expenses and student loans while living within my means, I plan on going to at least one convention next year and hopefully start saving up on that soon once I strengthen out my budget. I will announce it in the near future which one I will be going to. In addition, I plan on studying for the N3 next year as I focus more on actual Japanese media and start writing some posts in Japanese only for practice.
To celebrate the occasion, it’s time to share my new place where I will be writing posts and yes, it is clean compared to my previous location. While my setup will change as I earn and save more money, I’m hoping to add another monitor to have a dual or even triple monitor setup (which includes the laptop display), a bigger network attached storage, a server of some sort and solid-state disk upgrades. My new setup consists of a Mid-2012 15” Core i7 2.6 GHz Macbook Pro, 24 inch Apple LED Cinema Display, an old 22 inch Samsung LCD monitor, Surface Pro 2, Mid-2010 2.4 GHz Core i5 Macbook Pro, Bose Speakers, Blue Snowball, 3 TB WD MyCloud NAS and 2 external hard drives.
With that, feel free to say Happy Birthday in the comments below. I will be going out for lunch and dinner alone for my birthday (my parents will be coming to visit this coming Friday), although it will not be anything fancy.
Also, this site’s domain turns 5 years old on the 11th… Yep, time flies.
It seems like yesterday since I turned 24 years old. Like last year, it has been a calm year thus far except for the couple big snowstorms. Not to mention, I have been focusing primarily on learning new vocabulary and Kanji from playing video games and memorizing them through flash cards. I am still planning to tackle grammar needed for JPLT (will focus on N3 next year) with the references I have since there are apparently not many good advanced level textbooks unless you want to learn from one that is only in Japanese.
As I turn 25 years old, I have a feeling that 1/4th of my life has already passed by me although I look younger than my actual age. During those years, I have been focusing mostly on education. After the fall semester, I will finally complete my master’s degree and find my first job. I have high hopes that I will get a good paying job, but it won’t be easy. Once I get a one, I don’t expect things to be drastically different depending on the workload. In fact, I will be able to cover more types of content and be able to attend Anime conventions. Not sure which one I will go to, but Otakon is a good possibility since it’s only about a 3-hour drive from where I live. I’ll figure it out once I get there.
With that, feel free to say Happy Birthday in the comments below. I will be streaming games today and tomorrow, so feel free to watch on Hitbox, if you want.

Before I knew it, time flew by so quickly. During that time, I finally graduated college this year and experienced the worse power outrage last fall because of Hurricane Sandy. Even so, this year was a rather peaceful one as I focused more on writing about Anime, and diving into intermediate level Japanese language studies despite my up and downs. The question is, how I will manage my time as I head to grad school? I probably do more of the same, with a few adjustments.
For this birthday post, I will share behind the scenes on where I do my blogging. I do most of my blogging in a separate room, which has my desk with a LCD monitor and a screen. Since I’m busy all the time, my desk is unorganized and it’s pretty embarrassing. While I do most of my web surfing and browsing at this desk, I also do my blogging and web surfing at college and when I’m on vacation, in the hotel room. Since these places usually have Internet access, I no longer have the excuse to go on hiatus.
As for the computers I currently use, I have two Macbook Pro laptops. The one on the left (Takanashi Rikka) is my main one, which has a faster Intel i7 Quad Core CPU, 16GBs of RAM, 750 GB Hard Drive, Matte Display and nVidia Geforce GT 650m graphics. The right is a 2010 model, Takamachi Nanoha, which replaced my lemon laptop.
With that, feel free to say Happy Birthday in the comments below. As always, my parents are going to take me out later for a special meal. (Image Source)
今日は私の誕生日です。(Today is my birthday.)
Believe it or not, time flies when you are working hard. A lot has happened since then as I took on the task of self studying Japanese, experiencing some Anime Blog Tourney drama, moving to another server and of course, overhauling my blog’s theme. Although I have experienced some hardship with my mother having cancer that she has fully recovered from, I think the future ahead will be blight one. I don’t intend to give up blogging any time soon since I enjoy doing it and there is a lot to write about.
As for what I got for my birthday, I received a Playstation Vita. I still haven’t got any games for it besides my downloaded games from Playstation Network since I don’t know what game I should get. I plan on fixing that soon. Aside from that, “Idolmaster SP Missing Moon” plays great on it.
With that, feel free to share your birthday wishes to me, whether it’s on Twitter or in the comments below. Also, I want to thank all my readers and followers who have supported me during these years. Hopefully, I can defy Anime Blog death by passing the four-year mark!
…
With my 21st birthday quickly passing by us, I turn 22 years old today. Since my last birthday, lots have happened with my blogging of more Anime series, most namely Ore no Imouto, Madoka Magica, Wandering Son, Gosick, Hanasaku Iroha and Ikoku Meiro no Croisèe while facing a mild case of an overactive thyroid. In the first few months, I found it considerably difficult to blog while dealing with the autoimmune disease, but I eventually overcome it.
Besides that, my parents and sister are planning to take me out to celebrate my 22nd birthday. I have received a Nintendo 3DS as my birthday present in advance (a new iPhone has to wait) and planning to review it sometime this month. Besides this, feel free to share your birthday wishes in this post or on Twitter. I’ll post the birthday tweets on this post once the day is over.
In addition to my birthday, the domain I am using for this blog and everything else (chikorita157.com) finally turns 1 year old on August 11th. I felt that getting a domain name was a rite of passage to get more noticed and it was fairly affordable. Even so, I am planning to keep on maintaining the domain well into the future. (Image Source)

It seems the whole year since I post my first birthday post back in my first year of Anime Blog. Within a whole year, I have accomplished a lot in terms of blogging and participating in the Anime Blogosphere and it went by really quickly.
Anyway, my parents celebrated my birthday last Friday by taking me out for dinner and it was good. I have already gotten my present, which was an iPad a few months back, so yeah. The reason it was celebrated early since my mother went away today to California to attend classes for her job and wont be back until Friday of next week. Also, even if I am 21, I will never drink a drop of Alcohol because I do not want any diseases or cancer and my parents will kill me if I do so… so its better off without it.
Feel free to say Happy Birthday in this post… and I hope the future will bright in the coming months. ^^;
