Watashi wo Tabetai Hitodenashi – Episode 2 – Shiori’s First Day of School and Festival Blues

October 9, 2025 by Chikorita157 Leave a Comment
Shiori finally “transfers” to the same school Hinako attends.

Last time, Shiori saved Hinako from being taken by a yokai from the sea. At the same time, Shiori wants to eat Hinako, seeing it as an opportunity to escape her miserable life. However, Shiori doesn’t see this as the right time to do it, as she only does it when Hinako is at her “best” as Shiori transfers in.

We saw that Shiori finally transferred to the same school as Hinako. Funny how she sits in Miko’s seat as she is absent due to a cold. Of course, Hinako wonders why Shiori transfers to the same school.

Shiori have lunch with Hinako.

It’s obvious not only to get closer to Hinako but also to protect her. During lunch, Hinako shows her a bento. She mentions that Miko makes her bring a bento as she cares about Hinako’s health. Of course, Hinako offered it to Shiori as she hadn’t gotten lunch, but of course, she goes about Hinako having to be in good health. It goes to the premise that Shiori wants to eat Hinako, but she is only willing to do so if Hinako is healthy.

The idea is Shiori wants Hinako at her best health so Hinako will taste good when she have her.
She even wants to feed her.

Otherwise, Hinako won’t taste good. Funny how Shiori compares this to livestock raised on farms, being well cared for before they are slaughtered. She wants Hinako to care more about her health and eat well so that Hinako will taste good. Of course, when Shiori wanted to feed Hinako, she just walked away, leaving the bento with Shiori. At least Shiori tasted Hinako’s cooking, and it tasted good. When she returned the bento, apparently, there were different types of youkai with their own preferences.

However, in Hinako’s case, it can satisfy any youkai out there, which is why Shiori feels the need to protect her, as Hinako is hers. Of course, at some point, Hinako walked out to the ocean side as she wondered why Shiori hadn’t eaten her right there on the spot. Hinako has survivor’s guilt as she is the only one who survived that day, and her parents and older brother haven’t.

Miko is happy to see Hinako again.
Why is she there?
She is obviously shocked.
Miko is really upset that she has to sit in the front and her old seat is taken.
A rivalry is forming.

The next day, Miko finally shows up to school and is happy to meet Hinako again. Yep, she saw Shiori for the first time, and, of course, Hinako is sitting in her seat while Shiori is in Hinako’s former seat. Now, Miko has to sit in the front right seat. We know why: the teacher thinks Miko is goofing off in class and wants to keep track of her. Yep, the rivalry between Miko and Shiori is fierce as they want Hinako. The funny thing is, Shiori doesn’t think Shiori will taste that good. It’s weird how she senses a feeling of rejection after Shiori said this to Hinako.

Apparently, there is a summer festival happening.
Of course, this brings back memories that are not well for Hinako.
Miko hugs Hinako as she tries to apologize.

Miko manages to sneak out after school with Hinako. Miko buys her a drink while she has an ice cream, and is sad that she got a losing stick. That said, they saw some people dressed up in yukatas as the summer festival is today. When Miko invites Hinako, it reminds her of going to a festival with her family when she was younger. Of course, given her trauma, she turns down the invitation, and Miko takes her back to her home.

Shiori came up to Hinako’s house.

Of course, after Hinako rests a while, Shiori rings her doorbell. Apparently, Shiori wants to invite Hinako to change, as she wants to take her to the summer festival. Given the PTSD that Hinako has over that incident, she explains that she turned down Miko’s invitation as a result.

Shiori really wants to take Hinako to the festival, but she doesn’t want to go.

As you would expect, Shiori goes on to say that mental health is also essential, like physical health, and that Hinako needs to live life to the fullest. Otherwise, in Shiori’s eyes, a depressed and suicidal Hinako won’t taste as good, and Shiori will never eat her. Given that Hinako desires this through the end so she can reunite with her parents and wants Shiori to do it, I guess she has to change. Still, I wonder if she will change her mind when she gets closer to Shiori and her view of life changes. We’ll have to wait and see as she gets forced to have fun at a summer festival with Shiori and possibly meet Miko there too.
