Momentary Lily – Episode 2 – Renge’s Promise to find Yuri’s Friend

January 9, 2025 by Chikorita157 5 Comments
Yuri is excited to name the team.

After Renge joins the team, we discover why Yuri meant what she said last time about how they can vanish anytime—why Yuri doesn’t want to make friends. Well, maybe we will finally see the reason.

Hinageshi shows her advanced weapon.
Renge reveals she has a smartphone.

At the table, Yuri wants to create a name for the group. As expected, Renge seems introverted, as always. With that, the girls introduce their weapons, Andvari, to Range. Of course, Range is surprised they had names as she doesn’t have a name for hers. As mentioned in the last episode, it was beside her when she woke up. Hinageshi has a very advanced weapon, but it’s not surprising, given that she is a gamer.

Of course, Renge reveals that she has a smartphone, and apparently, there are social media updates. Her smartphone can help find any survivors. Of course, given how introverted Renge is, she is reluctant to interact with any of the posts. The girls are stuck in the same area, and the concern is that they are running out of food. Of course, getting to the city center seems dangerous. Of course, Yuri thinks that they can pull it off with Renge around. Also, Sanzaka is having second thoughts about doing it.

Renge gets a bit close when she wants to help Yuri find someone special to her.

Eventually, Yuri apologizes to Renge, and Renge wonders why Yuri wants to move on. However, Yuri reveals that she is looking for Shirayuki Nerine, and Yuri gets separated during a big fight. Ever since, Yuri has been looking for Nerine. Renge realizes this is why Yuri can’t have friends, as she fears they will disappear. Renge promises that if she finds Nerine, she can become friends and defeat Goliaths, the big boss behind what is happening.

To distract the girls, Renge cooked dinner for them.

Of course, the rest of the girls overheard what happened all along. With that, Renge cooked dinner in a simple hotpot. They realize that eating with other friends tastes better. In a way, they try to convince Yuri to become friends with the members of everyone.

The girls face more enemies.
Sanzaka is at her limit.

The next day, they head somewhere, and Goliath shows up, followed by another one. Sanzaka decides to hold off the other one from behind while the others take on the first one. Of course, the others had difficulty defeating the first one, but they managed to do it. Of course, Sanzaka was at her breaking point and about to get erased until Renge and Yuri came along with the rest of the team.

Oh no, they really killing off Yuri?
In a sad turn of events, it looks like Yuri is killed in action, I guess it lives up to the momentary in the title as the show is not as lighthearted as one expects.

They managed to defeat them, but at a cost, Yuri gets stabbed with a fatal wound. As she is dying, she gives her last words before she passes away. Yes, one of the main characters died already in the second episode. That is surprising, but given the show’s name, does it momentarily mean Yuri won’t last long? It’s a surprise that this show is much darker than it seems, given the lighthearted moments.

@chikorita157 …The end-of-episode twist is not going to help discourage the Assault Lily Bouquet comparisons I see a lot of people making about this series.

Just once I want my concerns to be unfounded and it being me worrying over nothing. JUST ONCE! Fine. We’ll see where this goes. Just hope they have a good excuse besides explaining the title.

Yes, it was very surprising to see Yuri get killed off in the second episode. I really hoped that she survived, but I guess it will be interesting to see how the show goes without her.
