With Live missing, it’s Mayopan’s last stream. It’s their final chance to reach a million subscribers, as it’s the previous day. The question is, can they make it?
From last time, Ichiko, Tougake, Fuu, and Yuki revealed that they are vampires. Of course outside, the hunters are outside the hospital. Fuu assured me everything would be okay as Misaki ran the stream. The thing is, Tokage is the first to get to get captured first. Fuu, of course, gets trapped by two hunters, and of course, she accepts her fate as she tells Misaki to keep the stream going.
Of course, Misaki decides to save Ichiko as she holds her laptop to see where the hunters are. Of course, when they get to the roof, they are surrounded until Yuki decides to cover for Misaki.
While Misaki manages to escape, Ichigo is somehow bleeding, which leaves Ichigo vulnerable. Yep, she was in the room when she first met Live. Now it’s up to Misaki as she sees a ton of hate comments, but of course, there are a bunch of supporters underneath all the trolls. With that, she realizes it’s not a lost cause.
As Misaki unzips her hoodie, she finally decides to go on camera as she hides and runway from the hunters. That is while she tells her viewers to spread the word about the stream. Believe it or not, it went viral as she ran from the hunters but eventually got to the roof. She gets cornered as the hunter confronts her and asks why she wants to go on camera. Sure, Misaki says she is doing it to save Mayopan, but eventually, she admits that she just wants to as she wants to feel wanted and wants her viewers to enjoy watching her. That is while she cries.
It’s obvious who is under the hunter costume as they let her arms out for a hug. Of course, Misaki wants Live to reveal herself as she reminds her of her promise as she jumps off the roof. She soon realizes that she won’t make it until Live saved her. Misaki seems happy that Live finally appears, and she finally apologizes. Live mentions that she is glad about how Misaki feels. The funny thing is that Misaki realizes that Live is in on it and is one of the hunters.
As expected, Misaki got pranked as they faked as everyone was in on it. Yep, the Hyped Sisters and Outside Kids were the hunters. Ichiko fakes the bleeding, of course. Misaki doesn’t seem happy that she got pranked, and this time, Misaki punches Live in the face as they finally apologize. Yep, they went so far with this prank just to get Misaki on camera, but they didn’t realize they reached 1 million subscribers.
In short, we find out that Fu attacked the car, which probably explains why she appeared suddenly when the car stopped. Also, is the house simply getting repairs despite being turned down? I guess they were confident they were going to make it. Not to mention, Togake came up with the name Ai, which is not a real person. She created the name by changing the letter in Live’s name to “love,” Ai means love in Japanese. Of course, Live knew they had reached 1 million subscribers. Thus, she wants Misaki to hold her side of the bargain and allow Live to have Misaki’s blood. Of course, since she got pranked, Misaki said it was null and void.
As expected, Yuki has some explaining to do with Mother. The funny thing is that Yuki said nobody who watched believed vampires existed. Mother let it slide. As Yuki noted, Live’s and Misaki’s bonds are strong.
Also, we see what happened to Live 20 years ago. Yep, she decided she was stuck with being a vampire and wanted to go out during the day. Of course, she got burned up and turned into her bat form. Misaki, when she was in elementary school, offered her blood, but of course, she freaks out and throws Live. This incident explains why Live strongly prefers Misaki’s blood as she saves her. Even with that, she slept for twenty years, which is not surprising given her state. Thankfully, Misaki forgives Live as she carries Live and flies with her as she is thankful for learning to make videos.
Final Impressions
Mayonaka Punch is a fun show, given how entertaining the characters are. After all, it’s about vampire girls making “YouTube” videos with many funny and unhinged moments. Sure, all the characters are enjoyable and have quirks, but the highlight is Misaki’s relationship with Live.
Sure, Live seems selfish and unreasonable, as she wants Misaki’s blood. Of course, she cares about Misaki a lot and even learns to edit videos to pull off that elaborate prank so Misaki will appear in the video. Sure, Misaki also has flaws, especially her complex dealing with negative comments. I felt that she grew after she realized that some people enjoy the videos she creates. Remember, haters will hate, and Misaki realizes it’s best to ignore it as she enjoys making videos. That said, I do like the character designs and the music. Either way, it’s a fun show I will miss as I enjoy the antics of Misaki with the vampire girls making videos.
By now I’m sure you know that no matter how long I take to drop by, I WILL drop by sooner or later.
This was the surprise of the Summer season no question and my 2nd favorite overall. Live and her undying lust and love for Masaki were excellent. Masaki had a lot of bad habits to work through but in the end she’s still a caring and supportive beauty worthy of Live’s affection.
Most of the cast were a lot of fun to watch too. The Youtuber antics were amusing and it’s great seeing our heroines work hard to overcome both social media and keeping their powers a secret.
I would love a proper conclusion to the story and would have loved to see more Yuki post-meanie. She was surprisingly amazing.
By now you know that no matter how long I take to comment I WILL do so sooner or later.
This was my surprise hit anime of the Summer 2024 season and 2nd favorite overall. Live’s unsurprisingly my favorite character. Her beauty, charm, love and lust for Masaki were all wonderful. Masaki had a lot of bad habits to work through but it was clear that despite it all she was a kind and caring babe worthy of Live’s affection.
Most of the cast, especially the other vampires, were great, as were the Youtuber antics.
Wish we got a proper conclusion and more importantly more Yuki who was surprisingly amazing post-meanie phase.
