While Nokotan won against the Deer Assassin by chance, it doesn’t mean she is accessible from the challenger. Yes, other mascots now want a piece of Nokotan, which can threaten not only the disbandment of the Deer Club but also being forced back to the Deer Den.
Sure, Nokotan won by chance last time when the assassin’s wife called him during their duel, and he got arrested by the police, but she might not be lucky next time. Now, there are other assassins or, rather, mascots (that exist in real life) who want to challenge Nokotan. Sure, there is no Chiitan, but other cute mascots such as Kyun-chan are more like a Pika, Chikamaru-kun and Hana-chan, who looks like deer.
The funny thing is that Nokotan doesn’t have much talent per se. When she did a dance-off with Kyun-chan, she basically lost against her. Torako had to bail her out in a rematch against Kyun, and the match ended with a tie. The same happens when Nokotan and Torako face off against Chikamaru and Hana.
While Chikamaru and Hana can guess right what they think, Torako and Nokotan can’t. It’s not too surprising since Nokotan and Torako are so far apart. Torako’s student council members have to bail her out. Thankfully, they ran out of the clock and won by default. The funny thing is that Neko is really gung-ho about taking down the deer club, but she is willing to help save Nokotan in this instance. Thankfully, they won by doing nothing, as Chikamaru and Hana had another event to attend.
Of course, there is one more challenger left. Yes, it’s against Sento, which might be the hardest yet. Yep, it’s the final boss. What is the best way for Nokotan to prepare for it? It’s a parody of Rocky in a montage of Eye of the Tiger from Rocky III, which is quite funny.
You might wonder if the training was enough for Nokotan to win against Sento-kun. The answer is not really. While Nokotan believes she is beating up Sento as he goes on the defensive, he eventually beats the crap out of Nokotan. He even knocks a tooth out of her mouth. It seems hopeless for Nokotan, right? Torako isn’t giving up even though Nokotan is at a disadvantage.
The funny thing is that she eventually resorts to cheating and even uses her antlers as a propeller and throws antler bombs to try to hit Sento. Of course, he managed to take her down. Then again, this can explain why Nokotan got stuck on the powerlines. So, with that, is Nokotan doomed to stay in the deer den forever? Then again, they decided that everyone was a winner. In short, Nokotan’s plot armor saved her from being doomed to stay in the deer den. Still, it’s a funny fight, although it seems one-sided.
Final Thoughts
Sure, this show is not for everyone, but this show had a lot of funny and weird moments. Sure, there are a lot of funny and absurd moments thanks to Nokotan, but of course, the cast has its own quirks. While the comedy can be a hit-and-miss for some, there are some great moments. The funny thing is that while Torako wants to get out of the shenanigans with Nokotan, she gets sucked in. Surprisingly, she is very close with Nokotan even though she will probably not admit it. Otherwise, it’s a good comedy nonetheless, although not groundbreaking, maybe besides the the opening theme, which is a meme.
@chikorita157@chikorita157.com The “assassins” being actual real life town mascots made me wonder if this was a subtle tourism advertisement this whole time. They always seem to weave real life cultural facts into the show’s absurdity. Even the background flavour text in the previous episode was a comparison of Venice to Itsukushima Shrine.

I won’t be surprised if that was the case. Too bad there is no Chiitan, but it’s interesting to learn that all the mascots featured here actually exist in real life.
I expected to lose braincells watching this anime and that’s exactly what happened. I don’t regret it though because it was mostly hilarious. Everyone and everything except Bashame were excellent. The Yuri side-dish was welcome too, especially from a certain magnificent yandere imouto.
