After the gang fights, deer parades, and Neko’s failed attempt to shut down the deer club, the show finally reaches its halfway point. Of course, they celebrate it with the first half of mini-episodes. Yes, there were that many.
Note: Starting with Episode 6, new episodes are finally premiering on Wednesdays, but they will be covered on Thursday.

In the first half, they are segments disguised as mini-episodes. Some of them are funny and clever. Besides, Nokotan does telekinesis to bend a spoon, but it causes her horns to droop. Nokotan and Koshitan even sell Nokotan’s antlers on Mercari to raise money, which is quite clever. They eventually sell a bunch of antler-type things that Chiharu and Neko bought. Also, Nokotan depreciates when she finds out that cats outrank deer.

Also, I find it funny how Torako buys boba tea and discovers she can’t drink it since the straw is solid, but Nokotan’s antlers. Also, there is a segment called “Shikabu The Rock,” an obvious Bocchi The Rock reference where Nokotan decides to form a band. The funny thing is that Torako plays the Theremin and Udo Drum.

In the second segment, the girls finally change into their summer uniforms. Yep, Anko obsesses over her older sister, Torako, wearing the summer uniform. Yes, one of the male students mentions sister yuri to make Anko’s obsession with her older sister obvious.

Another funny part is that Torako notices something wrong with Nokotan, with her having light spots all over her. Deer malt their fur before the summer. Yes, the show was about to mention Bambi, but the actual book that the movie adapted from entered the public domain in 2022. The funny thing is that Nokotan sheds its whole body like a snake, which freaks Torako out. When Nokotan shows it to her, she brushes it off. Meme wears it like some full-body cosplay to be like Nokotan. The funny thing is that she does the same when Nokotan sheds again during the fall.

Lastly, there is that strange creature that Nokotan decides to show to Neko, Kinu, and Chiharu. During their meeting, Neko had to try to eradicate the Deer Club. The funny thing is that Kinu and Chiharu enjoy touching that strange creature that Nokotan made from her antlers, a tsuchinoko.

The funny thing is that it only eats chalk, and somehow, Neko warms up to this thing. Given how her mind had changed about the Deer Club for a moment, I know she would. Neko can be fickle sometimes. That said, I find it funny that the show is self-aware that summer was cut so short. I have a feeling they aren’t done with summer yet. We’ll see soon.
The shorts were amusing. No surprise that my favorite featured Torako and Anko.
I guess there’s a deer vs kitty kawaii war motif going on, explaining why Neko’s kind of an antagonist but not really.
Wish it were a girl who was cool with the delightfully twisted shimai Yuri we’re blessed with but whatever. What matters it it was acknowledged.
Yes, a lot of funny shorts, but quite amazed how they can fit that many with some funny ones.
Yes, Neko is quite an amusing character for sure, but I doubt see can pull it off.
