Now that Yumiko has managed to have some fun singing Karaoke, even with Chika at some point, she is finally starting to get the hang of her new role. Yumiko and Chika do a competition event with Otome, and surprisingly, Mekuru shows up, too.
Yumiko finishes her latest recording as she ask how she did. Apparently, she asked for feedback from Hoshizora, but apparently, the only answer was that it was good. Her coworkers said the same thing. This causes Yumiko to become perplexed as she still has to do a lot of retakes but somehow manages to keep up. This will become more important later on.
With that, Yumiko runs into Mekuru as they prepare for a joint event of Otome, Yuhi, Yasumi, and Mekuru. As expected, Mekuru still acts like a tsundere, although Yumiko wants to thank her for saving the day. I guess it’s too early to say she finally defrosted as Chika comes in. Yumiko and Chika are pairing up as they show determination to defeat Mekuru and Otome for a gift certificate for a Yakuniku restaurant. As to why, they want to invite Mekuru to thank her for saving their careers.
As for the competition itself, let’s say Otome demolished it. Maybe Mekurus is happy that she prevented Yumiko and Chika from winning. We know why as Chika stumbled hard on those embarrassing lines resembling a love confession. Then she bickering how Yumiko forced her to say embarrassing lines. Also, it’s funny to see Yumiko’s not-so-great drawing skills while Chika draws something that doesn’t match the theme of that activity, which is dogs. The funny thing is that when Otome, Yumiko, and Chika performed on stage, Mekuru was gushing.
In the end, Mekuru seems satisfied that Yumiko and Chika didn’t win. Chika and Yumiko reveal why they wanted the gift certificate. They want to take Otome and Mekuru out as a thank you. They wish to defrost Mekuru and make her happy since she helped them. Not only that, but they also mention that they are taking Otome out. The funny thing is that when they took a group picture, Otome outright announced that she was taking Yasumi, Yuhi, and Mekuru out for a party anyway. Is that why Mekuru seems desperate to stop Chika’s and Yasumi’s plans, just for Otome to fulfill them.
At the restaurant, Yumiko sees Mekuru. Mekuru accidentally reveals her actual last name, Fujii. That is when Yumiko asks for her name, but Mekuru doesn’t want to tell. Of course, Mekuru has overdressed since Otome is going to come.
As expected, Mekuru said the same for Yumiko. However, it’s a coincidence since she came from a photoshoot at the office. Funny how Chika comes in and sees Yumiko and Mekuru lying on the booth chairs and wondering what is happening. Chika eventually thanks Mekuru for coming to save the day. Of course, Mekuru says it’s not her, but Fujii did it. Yep, she can’t figure out her mind, and while she doesn’t want to see Yumiko and Chika quit, she is still mad at them for reasons. Can Chika and Yumiko ever defrost her at this rate?
Eventually, Otome comes, and we learn that Yumiko did the cooking. Chika really wants to do it, but she uses the same chopsticks to pick up raw meat used to eat cooked foods. Maybe it’s best for Yumiko to do it since she is the best cook. Yumiko witnesses a drunk Mekuru being embarrassed by sitting too close to Otome and saying she is just too adorable as she gushes over her. That is while leaning on Yumiko’s body. Yumiko is surprised that Mekuru can keep that all in.
Eventually, Chika left as it had gotten late, which gave Yumiko the chance to ask something important. She asks for advice. Otome thinks Yumiko is not preparing enough and does not practice and train, but she does not know what job she will get called to do. From Mekuru’s perspective, besides Plastic Girls being Yumiko’s best performance, she can’t give much since she hardly gets significant character roles.
With that, she suggests asking Chika for advice. Yumiko is reluctant to do this since she sees her as a rival despite being close to her. In the end, Yumiko might have to turn to her if she feels there is no way out. After all, Chika seems all so willing to help Yumiko out, but Yumiko denies her that chance, which angers her. Maybe Yumiko needs to drop the rival thing so she can push through, and we know they are close. Hopefully, we see it soon,
I still don’t like Mekuru. She’s not a bitch anymore but she still annoys me, especially when Mei Kim Anouk does the gay hardcore idol fangirl thing hundreds of times better. Were it not for her seiyuu job I wouldn’t give two cents about her.
The usual YumiChi antics and seiyuu plot stuff were good as usual though.
The problem with Mekuru is her facade and pretending to act mean towards Chika and Yumiko and then gushes about Otome in the bathroom with Yumiko in front of her. Yep, it would be better if she is more honest with herself, like you know, Mei, the true fan.
Still, sad given that Mekuru has the same voice as Rin.
