Now that Akira is back to her usual self. While they went through several stops, Akira, Reimi, and Nadeshiko wondered why Yoka wanted to go to Ikebukuro. We find out why.
It’s been several stops since they left the miniature town and saved Makoto from the dictator. When the girls come up with the name for the train, Shizuru suggests calling the train Apogee. This term refers to the farthest point the moon or satellite has reached from Earth. She apparently learned that word from Yoka. With that comes Shizuru’s friends, wondering why Yoka went to Ikebukuro.
Eventually, the girls stop by as Akira tries to communicate with Zenjiro, possibly asking what Apogee is while Nadeshiko and Reimi prepare vegetables. However, Akira yelled as Pocchi puked. Of course, they are worried about his health as he is an old dog, and they need him to find Yoka. Shizuru thinks that Pocchi came along, although he came along. Nadeshiko eventually asks about Yoka and what happened with her and Shizuru.
We finally learned what happened that night before Yoka ran away. It went like this: Yoka and Shizuru are probably discussing their future plans after high school. Yoka shared her desire to work on new planetary probes and space stations. Basically, she wants to become a space scientist. However, Shizuru doubts Yoka can do this as Yoka said she plans to go to university, write a thesis, and apply for a job at a research center.
I can see why Yoka got upset at Shizuru. Shizuru doubts that Yoka can do it besides not understanding what Yoka wants to do. She said what Yoka wants to do is unrealistic since they are regular folks, and she tells Yoka to accept reality and compromise a little. I think Shizuru is insensitive and discouraging Yoka’s desire to pursue STEM. It’s easy to see why she became quiet, and she eventually tells Shizuru, seeing her true colors as she blows up.
The funny thing is that Shizuru tries to go to Ikebukuro as she regrets saying what she said to her. The same thing happens as Akira, Reimi, and Nadeshiko decide to tag along with Shizuru, saying, “It’s not like she dragged them out here.” Shizuru is being insensitive like she did with Yoka, as Shizuru wanted to go to Ikebukuro alone and decided to leave them. Sadly, Nadeshiko let her go, knowing how dangerous it is. Pocchi, of course, decides to tag along. Eventually, Reimi apologizes for causing Shizuru to get upset after getting angry at her. Still, obviously, she wants to know the reason why.
The next day, Nadeshiko, Reimi, and Akira try to find Shizuru as they think she follows the train tracks. In reality, she took a shortcut as Pocchi decided to tag along. Then she had second thoughts, given that she probably took on too much than she chewed. Eventually, she turned back until Pocchi reacted. Yes, the zombies, as Shizuru fights them off while Pocchi acts strangely. It’s as if he is in berserk mode against the zombies. That is until the self-proclaimed zombie queen appears and takes Shizuru hostage.
Nadeshiko, Reimi, and Akira ran into the Black Leopard caravan. Of course, the delivery guy didn’t expect them to be there, but he didn’t know if there was a world outside the Ikebukuro line. All he knows is that the situation at Ikebukuro is terrible, and there are migratory zombies nearby.
Yep, Shizuru almost got herself possibly zombified. Still, thankfully, that didn’t happen as Mito Kuroki, the “queen” of the zombies who can talk, took Shizuru and Pocchi hostage. They are apparently looking for the perfect climate and soil, meaning they may or may not be the bad ones. Of course, Shizuru is hungry, and it’s funny how Kuroki tries to have one of the zombie’s body parts, which they won’t eat.
Meanwhile, Nadeshiko, Reimi, and Akira are worried that Shizuru might be a zombie now. Reimi is unsure if she can be friends with Shizuru if she is a zombie. Of course, they realized that no matter how much Shizuru says all the horrible things, she is still her friend, like with Yoka.
Either way, they decide to not give up on her as they continue to look for her. Hopefully, it won’t be too late. Still, hopefully, Shizuru will realize that she was a bit insensitive and apologize not only to her friends but to Yoka as well. That is, if Shizuru manages to escape the zombies and make it out alive. Either way, they are halfway there with 14 more stops afterward.

Train to the End of the World Episode 6: Cooling Off with Decay
@chikorita157 I wonder if there’s a connection between Nadeshiko and Nadesico. As in Easter egg or fun inside info. Not as part of the show itself.
I’m quite curious of how they are going to solve all of this next. It’s pretty open and the Queen seems interesting. Gives us more of the terrifying aspect of things.
I’m not too sure about that since I’m not familiar with it. Still, it’s should be interesting to learn more about that Zombie Queen, doesn’t seem to be zombie-like to me, but the zombies from Zombie Land Saga.
Agreed, her attitude in this episode wasn’t the greatest, but hopefully she will get better.
Shizuru’s my least favorite of the four and this mediocre episode made me like her even less. Sure she’s young and kids tend to say mean things they quickly regret later and her stubbornness wasn’t surprising but she’s still annoying.
Zombies being the next threat didn’t do much for me. After all the craziness they’ve seen the undead were the least interesting, or so I thought initially. I liked the queen though.
Shizuru is not at her best in this episode. I get that whatever happened between her and Yoka is understandable, but it doesn’t make it right to lash out on her friends just seem unwarranted. Not the best moment from her, but hopefully she will backtrack.
That zombie girl that seems a bit humanlike, well.. that is a different story.
