Last time, the girls pulled an all-nighter to create a 2nd music video. You might be wondering what caused it to go viral?
Last time, the girls finally uploaded the 2nd music video, which received a lot of views. Of course, comments are saying that it’s cursed. When they listened to it, Mion’s voice was there. It’s funny how Kano pretends to be drunk. Still, after seeing how many views and comments they received, she feels better about getting viewers’ attention and new fans’ attention.
As expected, Yoru feels happy that JELLE is doing well, as it’s getting a lot of attention. At the same time, they plan for the next music video. During a break, Yoru wants to try her hand on the next music video. That is while she looks at a new screen drawing tablet by the artist Kuroppu. Cute how she imagines herself checking tablets, wearing a trench coat and sunglasses like she is famous and hiding the fact.
Eventually, Yoru draws while she looks at social media, seeing how many views it has, and she gets excited. That is until she sees some mean comments saying her drawings are subpar. It only gets worse as Yoru meets with Kano and Mei, and Kiui virtually shows off fan art of JELLE done by Kuroppu. Yoru wonder why such a talented artist seems so interested in her illustrations, as they only remind her of the few mean comments from the video.
With that, she hid her feelings until, of course, Kano visited Yoru’s home. Apparently, Kiui told Kano and brought a bunch of chocolate eggs for Yoru’s little sister. Kano seemed excited seeing her favorite artist’s bedroom as she changed into Kano’s uniform. She visited because something was up with Kano. Of course, Kano eventually comes clean after being reluctant to do so. Kano feels down since she is ordinary and just likes to draw compared to Kano, Kiui, and Mei, who have achievements. With that, she wondered what she was contributing to JELLE.
Of course, Kano reminds Yoru that her art made JELLE what it is now. Without her, they wouldn’t have met Mei and Kiui. Kano has fate in Yoru and should have more faith in herself. While she eventually tells her that she does, the nasty comments degrading her art still bother her. Yoru felt even worse when JELEE did their first livestream and Kuroppu showed up.
Kuroppu might be a fan of the character Yoru drew. Of course, the comment with someone better should do the art instead of Yoru. Expectingly, Kano responded that JELEE’s art has to be Yoru no matter what. It’s a way for Kano to give faith in Yoru’s art. Still, this is something that Yoru didn’t tell her, as she really showed that she feels down about this after the stream. When Yoru asks why she has to draw JELEE to Kano, she says she likes Yoru’s art. When Yoru asks what art is better, that person or hers, Kano’s or Kuroppu’s.
That is when their stop is, as Yoru faked Kano, but she didn’t go off and told her to forget that question. She sat down and put her bag in front of it. Kano saw through it and took her to an aquarium. Kano thinks Yoru is a bit sensitive when she is worldly, and while mature, she acts competitively. Yoru enjoys being at an aquarium while she looks at the Jellyfish. That is when Kano realizes there is no aquarium in Shibuya, where they first met. Yoru want to make one in Shibuya. Kano promises to make one if she makes it to 100k followers.
With that, Yoru has the confidence she needs to improve her art. Eventually, she ignores the haters as she doesn’t want to get left behind. She worked hard to improve her art by studying reference books and improving her craft. She even rewrites the name on her mural to make it evident that she no longer doubts the works she created. It pays off as the Kano sees how good Yoru’s latest drawing is. It shows in the third video as it has already gotten 10k views with many likes and comments.
After getting their fortunes, there was a lovely moment with Yoru and Kano. Yoru wished she would improve at drawing to become confident in her art. Of course, they had fun in the snow, and Yoru drew a jellyfish in the snow. Kano really loved this Jellyfish until Yoru jumped on it. Yoru tells Kano she loves her singing and likes her, and she is happy to draw again, thanks to her. Kano eventually kisses Yoru on the cheeks before saying it’s nothing. It makes you wonder if Yoru and Kano will become canon. Well, it might get there.

Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night Episode 5: Sparks of Light and Dark – The Yuri Empire
Very relatable episode. It was easy to understand the struggle Yoru went through. I was very glad Kano’s there to support her.
That kiss was definitely a game changer. The buildup and both girls’ reactions were excellent. It catapulted this show from pretty good to must see.
Agreed, given how nasty social media can be these days, but at least Mahiru has a friend in need to help her.
Also that kiss too, which is always nice to see, although it’s on the cheeks though. At least its something.
